Reading the American political situation (and evaluating Biden) Putin knew his prospects for the most gain had a limited shelf life — the duration of Biden’s appeasement regime is a four-year opportunity but likely to be made less pliable by a new Congress in less than a year. The possibility of Trump returning in three years (or an equally robust Republican) and the likelihood of a repudiation of Soft-Serve Joe, no matter what, was an important impetus to make his move toward Europe now. The green light from China was helpful as it served Putin’s and China’s interest . . .
It just may not be working out as planned probably by virtue of Putin overestimating the effectiveness of his current level of blitzkrieg and that the longer that it takes, even the simpletons in the West can get their act together to an extent. But time, Biden time, is on Putins side it seems. And, it does not take long for fait accompli as regards territorial results from the Ukraine invasion. But more needs to unfold and maybe NATO members will come to understand their vulnerabilities as a result of absurd environmentalist doctrine. Russias cost will not be cheap.
