Heckuva job, Eric
In an editorial on April 28, 2007 entitled “Heckuva job, Alberto”, the QC Times published a typical snarky anti-Bush piece gleefully celebrating the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
Here’s what the QC Times’ editorial board had to say:
“His (Gonzales’) testimony and backtracking troubled even Republicans on the Senate judiciary panel who gazed incredulously at Gonzales’ spotty recollections of months old events.”
The editorial excoriated the Attorney General for being “unable to make the transition from Bush enabler to the role of constitutional protector…”
The Times charged that Gonzales provided legal justification “for things abhorrent to most…readings of the Constitution”.
The editorial cited Gonzales for using “loyalty to the president as performance criteria for federal prosecutors” (which was no problem for Bill Clinton…he just fired ALL the federal prosecutors when he came into office and named his loyalists.)
This editorial may have been among those for which ed page editor Mark Ridolfi has garnered awards for “Excellence in Editorial writing” from the Iowa Newspaper Association.
We eagerly await Mr. Ridolfi’s hopefully soon to be forthcoming bid for another award with a piece recalling current Attorney General Eric Holder’s “imprecise testimony and backtracking” and his “spotty recollection of months old events” before Congressional investigatory panels.

The (expected) editorial will no doubt include criticism of Mr. Holder’s penchant for choosing which laws he will enforce based on whether he alone considers them “constitutional”. Our friends at the Times may even be prompted to suggest that Mr. Holder’s selective enforcement of laws is borne out of “loyalty” to the president!
We can hardly wait! DLH, Crank Emeritus
