Obama to blame the economy on a “do-nothing Congress”

This would seem to provide an excellent opportunity for Quad Cities area GOP congressional candidates.  When it comes to “do nothing” the Democratic congressional caucus class picture is what one sees when they look up the term in the dictionary.

This is a party caucus who,in defiance of toothless law, has refused to pass or even propose a federal budget for over a thousand days. When in control of both Houses, the Democrats refused to pass a budget, fearing the 2010 election and the unpopular actions they had taken. After the shellacking the Party took in 2010, the Democratic controlled Senate refused to propose or even permit consideration of a budget proposal which the Republican House had passed.

If voters wonder why a supposedly “responsible” body of legislators would not carry out their first and most fundamental obligation, Democrat Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid is quite candid in explaining;

To do so would force the Democrat caucus to establish spending and tax priorities. As Sen. Reid explained, it would be foolish for Democrats to do that. Far better to let Republicans propose a budget and then criticize the priorities they set out.

Hmm. That sure seems responsible and statesmanlike, doesn’t it?
