Below is a link to an American Spectator article that asks questions of Ann Coulter, deservedly known as one of the fearless princesses of conservatism, whose ability to skewer liberals and weak hitting Republicans has been a wonderful elixir over the years. Accordingly, her vociferous support for Mitt Romney, early in the nomination process, set a few heads a scratch’n among other conservatives. We might have to stand corrected but Ann’s support appeared early enough that any presumption it was to stop this or that candidate is, well, presumptuous from all angles.
We are absolutely aware and committed to the need to defeat Barack Obama in November and believe supporting the Republican nominee is the only way to achieve that. With that there is no quarrel and we need no lectures from anyone about that. However Princess Ann’s political analysis regarding electability (she seems to think it is determinant regarding her candidate) always was static and has not been born out by recent polls.
We will strive for consistency in these pages. We object to the determination to castigate fellow conservatives or even non-conservatives by distortion or by echoing the use of the language and critiques of the left. Dick Morris has it right in his recent column. “Knock it off.” To the extent Ann Coulter engages in it, and does not correct or object to her favorite candidate for doing so, is unbecoming.
