Obama and the Peter Principle

The story of Barack Obama is not a story validating the Peter Principle (the concept that in a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence) as that level was surpassed by Obama years ago.  This is not to say that clever opportunism and the like have not been at play on his part. Competence or luck in the climb is not the same as competence in the job.  The incompetence should have been observed years ago, at Occidental, at Harvard, in Chicago.  And so the principle at work may apply most stringently to those that moved him up, those that were given positions of responsibility and kept promoting the guy. Unless, as suggested as a possibility in the article linked below, that he is a tool, a “tool” used on other decision makers, that is so many gullible voters.

No doubt the article aligns with many of your own perceptions and intuition about Barrack Obama the man and how he came to be President of the United States, arguably an affirmative action president, and as regards his competence and “management” style. But none we have come across heretofore coalesces recent observational gems from people who have left the Obama administration, or insider journalists ( I may be repeating myself on that score) writing about Obama’s “style.”   Very much worth the read including the comment section.  Thanks to DLH
