First of all I want to emphasize that as a participant observer of the battle for the soul of the Iowa Republican Party for at least 35 years, no greater level of gratitude is owed by movement conservatives and religious conservatives and many current elected leaders alike to any other organizer than Steve Scheffler, the later whether they choose to admit it or not. You are still wet behind the ears if you do not remember the days of Robert Ray clones and Mary Louise Smith clones that constituted the leadership of the Party and Republican elected officials. No one worked more tirelessly to tell people where incumbents and candidates stood on issues. Steve did not make the conservative movement but he certainly has done as much to sustain it as anyone of any profile in this state.
The network of relationships within the state he has established have been in service to conservatism and are crucial to its viability. It is an organizational achievement unprecedented in this state. It is a network that has brought far more people into the Party, than the estimable achievements of the cause celeb or bete noire , depending on how you view them, Ron Paul supporters.
He has pursued a panoply of important measures as current Republican National Committeeman all designed to sustain conservatism within the Party and defeat liberals and Democrats. A Party has to stand for something and yes Steve is and will be assertive in that regard. Steve Scheffler is an effective respected conservative organizer and voice for conservatism. He deserves to be reelected as Republican National Committeeman.
The publication The Iowa Republican has a regrettable article about Scheffler, questioning his credibility. I found their accusations to be incredible, as in bunk. If you read it, please also read my response in the comment section therein. R Mall
