Ryan v The Teflon Buffoon

Joe Biden might be the strangest, dumbest and luckiest politician in the world.  He has a history of controversy that tracks back to the late 1980’s when his first Presidential run was cut short due to plagiarism allegations.  He has publicly insulted every 7/11 Indian owner with a racist rant, stood with Harry Reid on the Senate floor and declared the Iraq war lost and called Obama the first clean and articulate African American.

Yet for no other reason than being an old white male, Biden was picked to ride side saddle in the Hope & Change campaign of 2008.  Nothing says Hope & Change like a 40 year career Washington politician right?

Fast forward to the Joe Biden of 2012 on the campaign trail (who has finally been allowed out of the White House basement to breath).  The guy is still as strange, dumb and lucky as ever. The Politico piece titled “Biden the Everyman” from last month not only attempts to spin his bumbling idiocy, they attempt to glorify it.

Starting with Biden’s goofy attempts at restaurants and county fair’s where he panders to people in the dumbest ways possible  He tells a group of auto workers that he is ” the son of an automobile man.” Then goes on to tell a city council group that he tried their job but it was “too hard.”  Yet the endless lows and super lows of Biden’s pandering/campaigning comments are always met with a “Biden’s the Everyman” from the media instead of “Biden’s the Moron”

And the protective cocoon is not only supplied by the hard core liberal media . . .  there is the likes of Peggy Noonan who very recently supplied this warning to Wall Street Journal readers:

As for Joe Biden, I love him and will hear nothing against him. He’s like Democrats the way they used to be, and by that I do not mean idiotic, I mean normal—manipulative only to a normal degree, roughly aware of the facts of normal life, alert to and even respecting of such normal things as religious faith.

Seriously Peggy.  You do realize he is the guy who said  while on a state visit to China, with regard to their brutal one child per family  policy –  “You have no safety net. Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I’m not second-guessing — of one child per family,”   This is “normal” ?  Well Peggy, your normal is most of the rest of the country’s idiotic.

But it does give you a flavor of  why Paul Ryan is playing from behind when he goes into this debate.  I know the same was said about Romney going in but this is much different.  Biden is an idiot, but the media portrays him as the peoples idiot.  Biden could literally go up and burp into the mic for an hour and the media would still probably say “that is just Joe being Joe!”  There is also zero doubt in my mind that Biden will say less than 5 stupid comments.  But in the end the media will always run cover for ole’ Joe.  That is why I have begun to turn my Paul Ryan debate expectations from a “Romneyslide” to a “Bush2000.”  I suggest you do also.                           Romentum

Interesting piece, nicely written. Hope the conclusion regarding expectations is wrong but it is certainly a possibility.

CNN debate poll: Ryan 48% – Biden 44%

MSM spin: Lunatic sneering smirking everyman Joe connected with the average American!
