Those Obstructionist Republicans

Scream all they want, sauce for goose, sauce for gander

So Senate Republicans are in a mood to delay Chuck Hagel’s ascension to Secretary of Defense.  Imagine, even delaying the President any appointment he desires! Don’t Republicans know Obama won!  Certainly Democrats rolled over for all of the Bush appointments  . . . or not.

National Review’s Morning Jolt reminds us via a reference therein to a “Tweet” from David Hauptman that:

“Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid all voted to filibuster the nomination of John Bolton to be Representative of the United States to the United Nations. Goose, gander, pal.”

For a variety of reasons, by his history and acumen, Chuck Hagel is not the person for the job.  He embarrassed himself in his Senate hearing.  We appreciate Senator Ted Cruz views on the matter expressed in this statement:

Today the Senate rightly voted to continue debate on Sen. Chuck Hagel’s nomination. There is no reason to rush his nomination to a vote until he has adequately responded to multiple requests from members of the Armed Services Committee for additional information.

Twenty-five senators have asked Senator Hagel to disclose the personal compensation that he has received the past five years, and twice he has flat-out refused regarding what he was paid in 2008, 2009, and 2010. This is within his direct control, and his refusal to comply with this reasonable request is troubling. Both Henry Kissinger and Hillary Clinton were asked similar questions, and given the vital importance of the Secretary of Defense to our national security, Sen. Hagel should not be held to a lesser standard.

Once Senator Hagel responds to these reasonable requests to disclose whether and to what extent he has any foreign financial conflicts of interest, I am confident that a bipartisan majority of the Senate will move forward to the timely consideration of the merits of his nomination.

Ahhh I love the smell of fresh hypocrisy coming from the Democat Party. There sure is never a shortage. This kinda reminds me of the debt ceiling hostage taking the obstructionist Republicans always do when they try and refuse not to vote to raise it. But wait, Senator Obama himself voted against raising the debt ceiling in 2006 when Booosh was in office citing “leadership failure” and broken government.” Yet today casting the same vote you are labled a “hostage taker.” Gotta love it. Bawahahaha.

Thanks to Senator Jim DeMint for backing Senator Ted Cruz in the Texas primary.
Kudos also to Club for Growth for backing Republicans possessing the courage of their convictions.
