American Public Should Be Tee’d Off

obama-golfer-in-chief-obama-golf-taxes-politics-1340490998I may bump The Crank at least for today for the title.  This article from Fox News just set me off as indicative of the business as usual problem in DC and why people can get the impression confirmation that politicians are not taking the country’s problems seriously or living up to their own words about the seriousness.  Note that this refers to a golf game on Monday afternoon . . . not Sunday, Monday.

Republican Senators Saxby Chambliss (GA) and Bob Corker (TN) teamed up in a foursome opposing Democrat Senator Mark Udall (C) and President Obama at the Andrews (Joint base) course. Did I mention it was Monday not Sunday?

Here was the spin from Corker’s office “With the major fiscal issues our country is facing, not to mention foreign relations issues around the world, anytime you can get the president’s ear for a few hours, I think that’s a good thing,”

What great cover for the golfer-in-chief.  What Bidenesque malarkey.   But it gets deeper. According to the Fox News report Obama mouthpiece Jay Carney had this to say:

In addition to immigration and fiscal issues, Carney pointed to energy and gun control as two other topics that might come up as Obama and the senators teed off.

“He’s willing to try anything, . . . Whether it’s a conversation on the phone or a meeting at the Oval Office, or dinner at a restaurant or dinner at the residence, he’s going to have the same kinds of conversations.”

Obama could have his hands full on the golf course. All three of the senators who golfed Monday with Obama were ranked among the top 40 on Golf Digest’s 2011 list of “Washington’s Top 150 Golfers.”

Does anyone believe that these characters really had substantive discussions on critical issues and differences? Apparently the course was built on La La land. We are told Chambliss got a hole-in-one during the game.  Apparently it was effortless.  Talking trillions loosens up the swing. And the public is presumed to have holes in their heads to buy the line these guys are putting out.     R Mall
