Cup 50% Full?

A couple of items with somewhat different takes regarding the Obama administration’s troubles of late.  This one from from DLH (Don Holmes, our illustrious senior editor). These two items today comprise the  “he’s go’in down’  vs  “not so fast, . . . never overestimate the LIVs out there” view.

From DLH:

“White House officials don’t believe the inquiries pose a mortal threat to the presidency, predicting the furor will flame out in short order.”

Hopeful or prophetic?

That quote is an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal’s story today on the various Obama administration scandals.

For the White House to suggest that the many exploding and serious charges being aimed at Obama and his “independent underlings” will “flame out in short order” isn’t surprising. Any administration under fire as this one is would be expected to attempt to slough it off as just “partisan politics”.

But with Obama, the White House has very good basis for actually believing it and I believe there is at the worst for them, it’s a 50% chance they’re right.

The Obama administration has built up such a huge inventory of scandals, none can be advanced beyond a few news cycles until it’s time to move on to the next outrage. And the media, whose main impulse is to protect Obama from criticism which could be damaging and to help further his leftist agenda, has historically not allowed any scandal to reach critical mass.

The spin in this latest crisis has been a little slow to develop but the defenders of Obama are starting to get in gear.

Julian Bond led off on MSNBC with the truly contemptibe, but typical for him, assertion that, for the IRS to target the Tea Party was the right thing to do, because those people are “admittedly racist”.

Good ol’ Harry Reid soon followed that up by one of his customary wacky assertions that, while Harry might not believe the IRS’s actions were the best , it’s probably OK because its the only government agency currently able to address all of the right wing abuses inflicted on this great country. Besides, the Republicans didn’t say anything when their side was found to be using the IRS in the same way.

As to Benghazi, we all know now that it’s just those dastardly Republicans “politicizing” everything and that “there is no ‘there’ there”.

Yes. the media is really, really angry about the DOJ’s actions but they will soon be satisfied that Attorney General Holder has gotten to the bottom of it and the responsible “underlings” have been held appropriately accountable (meaning possibly they’ve been reassigned to better jobs in the Justice Department as those underlings in the State Department who were identified early on in the Benghazi “investigation”).

I think we all have a pretty good idea what will become of this latest flurry of “scandals”.  And, in a few weeks, President Obama can announce that he read in the news that those responsible folks in those “independent agencies” have been properly held accountable.
