Zimmerman Notes

Here are a few observations on the George Zimmerman case, which, no doubt, Veritas readers have anxiously awaited:

1) The Zimmerman jury is comprised of six women. One can only hope that at least one of them is of the caliber of Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann. It will take women of such courage, wisdom, and honesty to withstand what these jurors will face as they deliberate the facts of this case as they’ve been presented and prepare to vote  their conscience and reach a just verdict. They have to be terrified nearly out of their wits in thinking about the consequences if they vote to acquit Mr. Zimmerman.

2) Does this sound like the writer’s mind is made up on the matter of Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence? Well, yeah…at least as it stands now and based upon the manner in which the case came about in the first place. It starts with our President and the atmosphere this man has created in this nation since he came to office. He has aggressivle sought to and, I believe, succeeded in dividing this country as never before in history. He has been most successful in setting race relations in America back more than a hundred years. The race baiters have never enjoyed such top level support in heightening racial tensions across the nation. Compliant, of course, as they are in all things Obama, the media has advanced this dangerous cause. The Trayvon Martin tragedy, and it is that, may be the culmination of Obama’s efforts and the media’s irresponsibility.

Even before much of anything of a factual nature about this case was known, President Obama had weighed in on the side of of the race-baiting industry. Dire threats were already in the air. The media joined in the campaign to use this incident to, intentionally or not, heighten racial tensions, even going so far as to deliberately misrepresent Zimmerman’s behavior on that tragic night with doctored audio tapes, as NBC did. And then, to his everlasting discredit, Republican governor Scott succumbed to the public and political pressure and named a special prosecutor whose easy submission to intimidation is exceeded only by her enthusiasm for the spotlight. She returned an indictment which has been pretty much exposed as contrived and downright goofy.

Perhaps what really happened that night will never be known, but it is a gross understatement to say that reasonable doubt, regarding the guilt of George Zimmerman is overwhelming, arising out of the abhorrent behavior of nearly everyone involved including the President of the United States.

3) To most legal observers, even those on the Left who fervently wish for Zimmerman’s legal lynching, the prosecution’s case has been an unmitigated disaster. For starters, the prosecution’s “star witness”, Trayvon Martin’s girl friend, Rachel Jeantel, turned out to be truly a “star witness”, but to the misfortune of the prosecution, she starred for the defense. It was interesting to watch as MSNBC and others rooting for a conviction, attempted to “rehabilitate” Ms. Jeantel and her woeful “testimony”. While they had to concede that there were some weaknesses in her testimony, it was suggested that it was “powerful” and had won the jury’s confidence because, and this was often repeated, she was “genuine”.

And that she was! Ms. Jeantel was genuinely illiterate, angry, defiant, racist, and dishonest.  Is she thus the gal that Mr. Obama would have hoped the son he never had, Trayvon, would have married and raised his grandchildren?

And, to round out the prosecution’s disastrous case-in-chief, the court heard from Dr. Shiping Bao, whom some may have thought was borrowed from the cast of Saturday Night Live. Dr. Bao, the medical examiner who did the autopsy on Trayvon Martin proved to be a buffoonish character whose testimony was as ineffective as most of the prosecution’s other “key witnesses”.have-you-noticed-how-its-the-actual-racists-this-country-who-politics-1372910096

4) What will happen if, somehow, despite the incredible pressure the jury must feel, returns a verdict of “not guilty”? In my view, this country may undergo, across the nation, the most destructive, violent, dangerous civil unrest since at least the race riots of the 60’s. Even worse the violence might recall the rioting of whites in the aftermath of the verdict in the O J Simpson criminal case which many thought was a gross miscarriage of justice. Oh wait!! There wasn’t any rioting by white people outraged at the verdict.

In this case, however, the always helpful media is already stoking the fires of civil unrest, alluding to potential protests and violence if Mr. Zimmerman is not convicted.

Much can be said and predicted about this but the key issue for me is, what would President Obama do. The word “gracious’, in either victory or defeat, is not a word that comes to mind in describing Barack Obama.

If Zimmerman is found “not guilty”, will President Obama rush to the press to call for calm? Will he tell the American people that, while there may be many who do not agree with the jury’s verdict in this case, the people of Florida have had their day in court and that justice has been served and that, as Americans who believe in the rule of law, we must now all come together and respect the decision of our fellow Americans who served the cause of justice and rendered a thoughtful decision they determined reflected the facts as they were presented?

Or, will Barack Obama just say that “the jury acted stupidly”?

It may not be wild speculation to suggest that we are most likely to see our Attorney General, Eric Holder, in this writer’s opinion, arguably the most corrupt public official this nation has possibly ever seen and for whom “justice” has never been a favorite pursuit of his, in typical Obama-style vindictiveness, file charges against Zimmerman for “violating” Trayvon Martin’s civil rights?

Well, there it is. A few observations. Undoubtedly, you have your own. DLH
