“From his first presidential campaign to the present, the president, his party and his administration have openly flouted existing laws, and it doesn’t seem there is any legal means of stopping him short of impeachment.”
In her latest typically excellent column, Clarice Feldman summarizes Obama’s approach to “transforming” America’s constitutional republic into a totalitarian form of governance. As she notes, there’s little chance he can be stopped short of impeachment. That slim chance must be considered to be less than no chance given the “opposition” political party and the people who fund their campaigns and devise their election “strategies.”
It would be well if every American, if they were to read only one newspaper column this week, would read Feldman’s column.
At the very end she notes,
“There is no quick way through the courts, I’m afraid, to stem the Administration’s repeated, open flouting of the law. Is anyone on Capitol Hill paying attention?”
A terribly sad answer to that question was provided this past week by a US Senator who is considered to be one of the Republican Party’s brightest hopes for capturing the presidency in 2016:
Senator Marco Rubio: “If Congress doesn’t pass a comprehensive immigration reform law in the next year then President Barack Obama might be “tempted” to legalize 11 million undocumented immigrants by executive order”.
While his “warning” was somewhat widely reported, I wondered why there was little or no widespread reaction to the utter stupidity of what amounts to a declaration of surrender to tyranny.
If we don’t give the president the legal authority to grant amnesty, he will then do it anyway!!!!???!!!”, Mr. Rubio is saying in slightly different words.
What is he…a bystander? Just what does Senator Rubio and his fellow “moderates” (McCain, Graham, Boehner, et al) think they are in Congress to do? Ratify whatever a would be despot who got himself elected in the most dubious ways wants to do?
And this is the Party of ideas?

“Wondered why no widespread reaction to the stupidity of…(Rubio’s “warning”)? No mystery there. While they must certainly realize how stupid Rubio’s statement sounds to a sane world the numerous rent seekers, con artists, and political opportunists don’t care. Business and the Wall Street Journal editorial board loves the idea of bringing in a new bunch of low wage workers; Big Labor salivates at the liklihood of fairly quickly organizing those workers and reaping their dues; the Democratic Party is already factoring in the votes they’ll secure from all the “immigrants”, legally cast or not; La Raza and their ilk are anxious to exercise the power over the Democratic Party they correctly expect; and the Establishment GOP? They’ll be working another “white paper” in a few years taking a “serious self-assessment” as to why they are unable to win any elections. Meanwhile, party “converts” Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, and a few others will be celebrating their status among progressives as “new age progressive Democrats”. Party Time !!!
