QCT Now Flacking for Obama Care at All Levels of Reporting

No shame, just blindered and purposeful apologias for Obamacare’s takeover of healthcare.

ObamacupAs compared to its editors, in the past we have thought that the Quad City Times (QCT) staff reporters tended to be more “fair and balanced” than the AP or other wire services their bosses employ when dealing with overlapping subject matter. While they are not responsible for what comes over the wires, or their bosses opinions, it is now apparent that they have adopted them.

Their thought processes must have become distorted by the biased messaging endemic throughout their organization.  The whole paper is now serving as an unabashed conduit for Democrat party talking points and as PR shills/ apologists for the Obamacare’s implementation debacle.

The QCT editors have been enamored with Obama and his intents from day one, rare demurral notwithstanding.  Indeed they were key to foisting him on the nation by giving such an unqualified radical-punk community organizer an affirmative action pass on every article they wrote or transmitted about him, directly accentuating his rise to power. They made the man.  The political rise to power of this narcissistic but economic and constitutional dunderhead is the liberal media’s creation and the QCT was an early promoter.

Their hand-wringing endorsement of  Hillary in 2008 (damming her with feint praise and sending Obama a love note) while giving him extraordinary coverage on the “news” pages was pathetically transparent throughout the caucus / and primary process.

So in 2008 they were able to endorse Obama over McCain. But when it came to 2012 they must have had a fit of melancholy over the disastrous economy, or more likely, just sided with their girlfriends at the Des Moises Register in their lovers spat with Obama over being dissed by him during the campaign.  However one can’t walk back all the biased reporting they promulgated in one meager editorial.  They had four years of hagiography devoted to Obama. Their endorsement of Romney was understood to have no effect after voting was well under way and the promotional “set” was well established.

Does anyone think that the majority of the news staff of QCT or its editors  read conservative journals and substantive analysis,  or even make a passing reference to them “on background” with any regularity?  We will bet that key personages among them do study any number of left leaning liberal choir books, and the rest have tuned themselves to harmonize.

What amazes us is that for professionals they are not even apparently inquisitive as regards anything counter to their presumptions. Conservatives largely cannot help but be aware of the liberal view because we are constantly hammered with the dominant left leaning liberal spin and presumptions transmitted by the likes of the QC Times.  Conservatives have to use volition to go beyond them for other views and information, and we do. The QC Times powers that be do not exhibit any disposition to actually read conservative thought, in spite of a cursory inclusion of it on their editorial pages. They ignore counter information even when it is literally on the same physical page.

Two recent examples. The QCT has a scathing denunciation of the GOP in today’s masthead editorial. It is titled The GOP Drags America Over the Edge. Its opening paragraphs exhorts the GOP thusly:

House Republicans have resorted to extorting our National Guard, defense department civilians, national park visitors, low-income preschool children and many, many more Americans.

Thousands of Arsenal employees are being sent home, not because our nation has insufficient funds, or no longer needs their defense logistics. They’re being indefinitely furloughed so House Republicans can persist with their same failed tactic.

Now one could credit them for juxtaposition of a column by Pat Buchanan on the same page which happens to answer their calumny about Republicans.  We just can’t credit them for having had the sentience to have read it. There is no acknowledgement of the fact that Republicans have tried to fund each and every element of government they list with the exception of .  It is a matter of record. They are just too blind, dumb or doctrinaire to understand, or just glance across the page, much less report the facts on their own.

Multiple articles available in journals they do not read assail Obamacare’s negative effect on employment. Republicans are trying to save jobs, they are not putting people out of work by trying to stop Obamacare.  Obama is putting more people out of work by stubbornly pursuing its implementation.  Read about Obamacare’s effect on employment hereherehere, here,   here,  but perhaps most “objectively” for their liberal predispositions, via the reliably left of center publication, The Economist,  here.

The local reporting regarding yesterday’s start of Obamacare’s individual enrollment amounts to a cover-up in its truncation of reports of problems the first day.  Surely there was more time for investigation prior to press time. Instead the reporters swallow whole hog the press statements, explanations and misdirections of the Obama Administration. There are no interrogatories as to why the Obama Administration was /is so ill-prepared, why there were any significant delays for something so widely anticipated and billions spent in preparation.

If Obamacare, as the administration pretends, has been so popular all along, how is it that they could not anticipate the alleged influx of applications ?  Or are the delays the result of incompetence, lack of preparation and the huge confusing bureaucratic nightmare?  Obamacare overwhelmed by its popularity, please. “Smoothed out as the day continued” for Quad-Citians, but not for so much of the rest of the country?   Now the entire  QCT news and opinion section is operating with blinders.  R Mall
