Common Core — uption of Education

lincoln-mdThe philosophy of the school room in one generation  will be the philosophy of government in the next.”   —

Attributed to Abraham Lincoln – an important point no matter who said it.

This communication from Tamara Scott,* State Director of Concerned Women for America of Iowa came yesterday.  We regrettably overlooked it until now.  Common Core is something we need to be very concerned about. There are many very troubling aspects to it both pedagogically and as a matter of states and parental rights. Common Core is  a direct attack on local control of education. It should be opposed as to principle, practicality and content.

Learn more about Common Core from this article prepared by Iowa Representative Sandy Salmon (R – HD 63).  The critique therein regarding the proposed Common Core science standards (page 5) are immediately pertinent to the CWA action request. Michelle Malkin has also done much to expose Common Core.  Read more from her here.

Hopefully some of you will read this in time to respond by the midnight deadline. It involves filling out a fairly brief survey regarding the science standards being proposed as part of the Common Core curriculum our state has regrettably bought into.  Check into it anyway in case they extend the deadline.  R Mall

*  Tamara Scott is also the Republican National Committeewoman from Iowa
