Send In The Clowns

Pat Caddel on Fox described it perfectly: “Obama has a ‘send in the clowns’ foreign policy”.Screen shot 2014-03-04 at 5.38.42 PM

I saw the president’s “national security team” the other day, pictured in the Wall Street Journal: John Kerry, Chuck Hagel, Susan Rice, James Clapper,  John Brennan. If you have watched each of these people over the years…and I have, for lack of a good golf swing, this is a clown carload. This is the Obama “national security” team? This looks more like “Obama’s Revenge” for all the grievances against this country he has apparently harbored since his youth.

It is hard, if not impossible to imagine a group more incapable of dealing with a crisis and more dangerous for this nation than this assortment of incompetents, anti-American leftists, posturing fops (Kerry), and plain  fools (Hagel fits in several of these categories). God help the USA.

Let’s look closer at them.

First, take John Kerry

(as comedian Henny Youngman might have said…PLEASE).

——————————————————————————————————————————- John Kerry and Jane Fonda won the affection of a grateful nation for their efforts on its behalf in the Vietnam war. Unfortunately, it wasn’t this nation…it was North Vietnam’s gratitude they earned.                                        ——————————————————————————————————————————-

Kerry has always encouraged the image of a war hero. In fact,  he had the distinction of getting three Purple Hearts for injuries less serious than those suffered daily by nursery school children on America’s playgrounds. He was not excused from duty even one day for any of his “wounds”.  John Kerry may be the first American serviceman to win 3 Purple Hearts for a skinned knee and two “owies.” But 3 Hearts “awarded” in a combat zone, happened to be the right number to have him sent home after just four months in-country. Lord knows how much more heroism (he was awarded a Silver Star which he may have “earned” the same way he did his wealth, I don’t know) he might have exhibited had he served a full tour.

At any rate, Mr. Kerry came home to distinguish himself by comparing the US military to the Mongol hordes led by Genghis Khan (that’s pronounced “Jenjus” by this learned war hero) in testimony before Congress. In his telling, he may have been the only American serviceman to return home without a pair of ears cut from the head of his Viet Cong adversary and a set of “genital electrodes” in his pocket. He also traveled overseas, during the war, to meet amiably with North Vietnamese communist delegations…in some circles that might strike some as detrimental to the interests of the United States…to others, just plain treasonous. Oh well.

Finally when it comes to this member of Obama’s “National Security Team”, there are some of us who might wonder, when Mr. Kerry is dispatched as Secretary of State to meet with an adversary of this country, just exactly whose interests will he be trying to advance.

Now, we might talk about James Clapper . . .

currently National Security adviser to the President. Most recently Mr. Clapper is known for his testimony before Congress regarding NSA surveillance, which he later admitted was not exactly accurate. He described it as his attempt to be “the LEAST UNtruthful” (Joe Biden couldn’t have said it better). If so, that would put Mr. Clapper at the polar opposite to his boss , President Obama , and other luminaries in this administration, like Eric Holder…both of them seem to be untroubled about their penchant for choosing “the MOST UNtruthful” route!

Mr. Clapper has earned the spotlight for other insightful observations. Last year, he corrected some misapprehensions some members of Congress seemed to have about the Muslim Brotherhood.

——————————————————————————————————————————– He told a House Intelligence Committee hearing in February, 2011, that the Muslim Brotherhood is a “a very heterogeneous, largely secular” organization. (Like your local Civitan or Loyal Order of Moose, don’tcha know). ———————————————————————————————————————————

He suggested that “many American commentators” were silly to express fears of the Brotherhood coming to power in Egypt.

Clapper said that the group “has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam” and “has pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt”..

Mr. Clapper’s characterization of the Muslim Brotherhood as a “largely secular” group attracted so much criticism that the White House was forced to “clarify” the National Security Director’s keen insights…this was before the 2012 election, back when the White House still gave a damn what the American people thought.

The “Clapp” has had many other gaffes, too numerous to mention here but, one more: When Diane Sawyer, in an interview in December, 2010, asked about a terror plot that had been disrupted earlier in the day, Clapper didn’t respond and later admitted that he hadn’t been aware of the event.

And that’s our guardian of national security. He’s on top of things.

But what about Chuck?

You may have heard that, before  Chuck Hagel was tapped by President Obama as his Secretary of Defense, he appeared on Al Jazeera where he declared that the United States was a “bully” in foreign affairs. And, before his confirmation as Secretary he had stated his support for reductions in America’s nuclear weapon stockpile below even the latest level of 1500…an arsenal many experts consider dangerously insufficient.

———————————————————————————————————————————-  Maybe you are one of those who thinks that every time you see a photo of Hagel, he appears to be wide-eyed, startled, and searching desperately for a clue. Well, I think this is a case in which looks are not deceiving.                                                                                       ———————————————————————————————————————————-

And finally, while his appearance before the Senate considering his confirmation was viewed by many, on both sides of the aisle as a wildly embarrassing and disastrous  performance, which in a sane world would be adequate reason to reject his nomination out of hand, Chuckie Hagel is nonetheless America’s Secretary of Defense. He has essentially admitted  that he doesn’t believe in a strong defense establishment, is not  much respectful of Israel, and had supported direct negotiations with Iran with no preconditions.

And this past week Mr. Hagel saw his clueless and dangerous views become reality as he proudly announced a stunning reduction in our military readiness. Which, incidentally, coincides very nicely with Mr. Putin’s Ukraine strategy.

And then, there’s John Brennan.

As Obama’s “key” adviser on counter-terrorism this guy has an alarming track record of empowering the Muslim Brotherhood (now where have I heard reference to that outfit before) both domestically and abroad.  Brennan, has even been alleged by some to be a Muslim. While right-wing groups claim credible reports that he converted to Islam while serving with the CIA in Saudi Arabia, left-wing and Islamic groups such as CAIR insist there is no evidence of that.  At any rate, Brennan has “allowed the jihadist enemy” of the United States “access to the highest level of (our) government, according to Retired Admiral James A. Lyons, former commander-in-chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and senior military representative to the United Nations.

At the time Brennan was being considered by the Senate for his post as CIA director, Steve Emerson wrote,

—————————————————————————————————————————-                             “say what you will about Obama’s other nominations, including the hapless Chuck Hagel. Never has there been a more monumental mismatch between man and mission than Brennan and CIA director”. —————————————————————————————————————————–

Whatever or whomever one wishes to believe, John Brennan must be considered another of Barack Obama’s curiously provocative choices and one that seems especially problematic…to put this guy in a key national security position, charged with a major focus on Islamist terrorism seems to me to be downright vindictive toward America.

Enough about Mr. Brennan.

Finally, let’s consider Susan Rice.

You remember her. Ms. Rice is perhaps the best example of the post-election series of “spite picks” by President Obama. Clearly, our arrogant, vindictive chief executive is truly enjoying the fruits of what he calls his last election. Not to say the U.S. may not have Barack Obama as our reigning “Dictator for Life” (we may have seen the last free election in the history of this once great nation), but nevertheless, he never misses an opportunity to spit in the face of the American people.

Ms. Rice’s credentials are secure. She is an obedient , arrogant acolyte of her Messiah, nothing more. When the “national security team” met this past Saturday regarding the crisis in Ukraine, Ms. Rice’s role and assignment might be plausibly imagined.

——————————————————————————————————————————— Given her only proven unique talent, the “team” may have sent her out to find a You Tube video which Our Dear Leader could blame for Mr. Putin’s hissy fit in eastern Europe. ———————————————————————————————————————————-

Obama could then profusely apologize and assure the world that another rogue filmmaker, probably a crazy anti- American, Anti-Russian Ukrainian with Tea Party ties, had caused a world crisis, but not to worry…our president will not rest until he is brought to justice and Vladimir is properly appeased.

It’s been reported that the national security team met Saturday in an emergency session to consider ways in which to deal with the developing crisis. Also reported was that President Obama did not attend this meeting (there is no truth to the rumor that he was recovering from the effects of Friday’s Democrat “happy hour”).   Who could blame him for not joining this circus act?      DLH

Nailed all the little critters. This would be hugely funny if it were not so hugely serious to the welfare of this country. Keep writing.

  2. Doug Kelly says:

Send in the clowns, indeed. This is embarrassing. Is there a rule or directive under which the United States could simply withdraw from the world for a while (until after 2016 at least) — a sort of sabbatical as it were? We are in dire need of some pause in what we laughingly refer to as our foreign policy until we figure out if we even have one. Frankly, I don’t think we do, or it would be somewhat apparent. Surely.

Apart from the aforementioned clowns, we have the brilliant maneuvering of our faux leader with regard to the goings-on in Ukraine. And the CIA is doing its usual a bang-up job with everyone except the Russians. But to be fair, they do have their hands full supplying arms to Al Qaeda in Syria. And after their nice piece of work in Benghazi, “What does it matter . . .?”

Back on subject: Think about it. A community organizer is going up against the ex-head of the KGB? Seriously? Putin is playing chess while Obama is playing marbles. The world is watching. We look like fools. Clowns, actually. Embarrassing isn’t it?

But then, I’ve heard that Putin is a racist. At least that will be Obama’s story, and he’s sticking to it.

  3. Gus says:

Not only is Putin “racist”, he also appears to be “anti-gay”. That is soo 19th century. Forget Ukraine, Obama must get back to the real issues…obesity in America! By the way, isn’t there a member of Obama’s “national security team” missing…possibly its most important member and the one I’m guessing has helped shape President Obama’s response to every global crisis… Dennis Rodman?

If you don’t stand 100% with President Obama you stand with Putin!
