An only mildly interesting piece from the Politico. Upshot of it is one of the first”foundation-laying” pieces preparing conservatives to accept Jeb Bush, or maybe Chris Christie as their party’s savior in 2016. Scott Walker is mentioned only to give the reader the impression that a conservative would be in the running.
By the way,the piece posits that Senators make very poor nominees, concedes that McCain and Dole were loser/senators and that Obama, while a senator only had to beat another senator, McCain, in ’08. Hmmm, wasn’t Mitt a governor?

Once again, I fear, conservatives are being set up for grave disappointment. Here we have a piece from the American Spectator, excitedly assuring readers that, Hallelulia!, John Boehner has seen the light! He’s showing those Democrats…and the conservative base of the GOP…that he is a really tough guy and has lured those unsuspecting Dems into a clever trap.
Well, I guess we’ll see. while Trey Gowdy is a superb choice to head the select committee, John Boehner’s and the Republican establishment’s capacity for caving to mild pressure from Obama and his minions is virtually unparalleled. It will, indeed, be a refreshing surprise if Mr. Gowdy gets the speaker’s full support in the investigation in the face of intense and aggressive media and Democrat attacks.
This week, for example, it won’t be the select committee that is the focus of media attention. It will be Obama’s single-handed and spiritually inspiring efforts to save the planet from extinction due to Republican engineered man-made climate change.
Next week, who can guess what it will be. Watch for it!!!!!!
