Silly Wabbit, Election Laws Aren’t for Democrats

Doug Kelly gave us this heads up to a Jim Geraghty Morning Jolt article about your Senator Tom Harkin doing what Democrats do.

A Tiny Bit of Law-Breaking by Iowa Democrats

The law declares, “The use of cameras, cellular telephones, pagers, or other electronic communications devices in the voting booth is prohibited.” The Iowa Democratic party may argue that because Harkin isn’t inside a voting booth, they’re in the clear. But if the law aims to prevent taking pictures of completed ballots, and it’s illegal to take picture of the ballot in the booth on Election Day . . . why is it okay to take a picture of the completed ballot for absentee voting?

Voting Early with Tom Harkin

Besides checking and verifying the links to Iowa election law we checked the helpful page on the Scott County Auditor’s web page dealing with absentee ballots.

  • Vote in Secrecy
Iowa law requires that absentee voters mark their ballots so that no other person will know how that ballot is marked

You can’t make this stuff up:

Would Democrat Auditor Roxanna Moritz please refer Harkin to the Sheriff’s Office, Highway Patrol, Tom Miller or somebody for arrest!
