Rally to Show Support for Police this Saturday in Davenport

Yesterday a caller into the Jim Fisher Talk Radio show (WOC) announced a rally to show support for police to be held this Saturday December 13th at noon at LeClaire Park, (River Drive and Main St Davenport).*   No doubt the rally is a response to the largely one-sided narrative propagated by local media regarding allegations against police stemming from incidents in Ferguson, Missouri and Staten Island, New York.  Pending further verifications which we will pass on, we intend to be at the local rally.

Demonstrations organized by the usual leftist suspects, including some fomentors of hate, have occurred around the country, some disruptive and destructive. Unadorned nonsense is being spewed with sloganeering substituting for reason and truth. Slogans such as “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” (a total fraud by the facts of the case) and “I Can’t Breathe” are prominent and meant to succinctly indict police and substantiate allegations of oppressive white society. Facts and actual justice do not matter to such people, they are irresponsible rabble-rousers.

A demonstration locally last weekend, while peaceful, employed similar ignorant resentments, lack of perspective and circumspection to carry the theme that others are primarily at fault in the Ferguson and Staten Island incidents rather than a series of  very bad choices made by the two deceased non-martyrs.  No institution is faultless, or composed of faultless individuals,  or has unassailable policies, but we think local law enforcement rates a showing of support in response to the negative stereotypes being trumped-up by the loaded language and accusations stemming from Ferguson and Staten Island and race hustlers nationwide.

Here are some more articles, clarifications and links regarding the Staten Island (Eric Garner) incident not transmitted or referred to by the local media.

Gary Bauer at Campaign for Working Families, in an article acknowledging different public perceptions of the two incidents, offered this assessment:

I don’t know why the (New York) grand jury reached the decision not to indict. Perhaps these things played a role:

In addition to the arrest, the medical examiner’s report also listed Garner’s “acute and chronic bronchial asthma, obesity and hypertensive cardiovascular disease” as contributing factors to his death.

One of the supervising officers on the scene was Sergeant Kizzy Adoni, a black woman. At no time did Sgt. Adoni intervene on Garner’s behalf.

Moreover, Adoni was offered immunity for her testimony before the grand jury. While we don’t know what she told the jurors, it obviously didn’t persuade them to charge Officer Daniel Pantaleo. In fact, her testimony may have helped to clear him. We do know that a preliminary police report quotes Sgt. Adoni as saying that “The perpetrator’s condition did not seem serious and he did not appear to get worse.”

Unfortunately, both the Brown and Garner cases ended in tragedy — for them, their families, their communities and our country. Sadly, the left is trying to exploit their deaths, further dividing the country, inflaming racial tensions and putting more lives at risk. In fact, in major cities like New York, complaints of police brutality have been declining in recent years — the exact opposite of what the left claims.

In the meantime, law enforcement officers face increasing threats during their daily routines. In addition to threats from Islamic extremists, a radical gang that literally took over the Baltimore jails is reportedly plotting to assassinate on-duty New York City police officers.

We would add that other reports have indicated that Garner was breathing as he lay awaiting transportation and that he died in route to the hospital not of strangulation and not at the scene as implied or inadequately clarified in mainstream media reports.

Fox news analysts also justifiably take a hit in this article from Accuracy in Media:  Media Still Demonizing Police . Posts in Veritaspac.com related to Ferguson and Staten Island are available  here   here   here and  here .   R Mall
