Recent polling and Dick Morris’s analysis of Cruz’s impressive fund-raising
A recent USA Today poll indicates the following (their graphic):
We agree with Jim Geraghty, writing in his Morning Jolt column for National Review Online, it is goofy that the poll left Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal (and Rick Santorum) off but included John Kasich. In spite of that it roughly resonates with our own best guess of the relative national standings based just on our absorption of “whats out there” (blogs talk shows and earned media). Adding in the others we would guess would pull little from those listed but would come from the undecided, some cumulative percentage of the undecided for this poll are so because of the exclusion of those three. If all were included we would suggest a two tier result would include Rubio in the top half and the others in the lower half with Carson’s top tier standing being the most iffy in coming weeks.
Dick Morris maintains that Ted Cruz has “broken into the big league” by raising $31 million dollars after his announcement. The demonstrated fundraising prowess of Cruz, much of it is from Texas, will likely keep Perry in the second tier. Morris said it dwarfs what Rand Paul was able to raise after his announcement and is enough already to carry him through the primaries. Morris also believes that 1) SCOTUS in its upcoming Obamacare decision in June will force the matter back to Congress and 2) Ted Cruz will be “the leading person saying don’t fix it, scrap it and replace it.” That prominence will benefit his standing.

Dick M-M-Morris? I don’t get it…what’s the joke? (1) Cruz was born outside the USA; (2) he’s a dirtbag who orchestrated an unnecessary gov’t shutdown for career reasons, screwing Veterans, and costing us 24,000,000,000 dollars. C U election nite. 🙂
