Update regarding Iowa Congressman Blum’s vote on TPA

Yesterday we reported on the Iowa congressional delegation’s votes on trade related legislation. On the question of passing the Obamatrade facilitating Trade Promotion Authority  (TPA) a.k.a. “fast track”, the delegation’s three Republicans — Blum, King and Young supported it and Democrat Loebsack opposed it. We count ourselves among  conservatives who oppose it based on the timing (empowering the likes of Obama), our views of good government, the concerns raised by Senator Jeff Sessions and others, and the process and manipulations used to achieve passage.

On this latter point we should point out that Congressman Rod Blum showed integrity by being one of 34 Republicans to vote against the rule manipulations used to bring TPA to the floor.  That could have killed Obamatrade. That he subsequently voted for TPA is disappointing but his vote against the establishments manipulations should be pointed out.   Here is the Breitbart article addressing the importance of that vote.

Breitbart has been unmatched in the scope and depth of its reporting and analysis regarding Obamatrade.
