Straight outta consequence

Being “black” is not the problem — excusing and glorifying thuggish behavior is.

Another report by Colin Flaherty on black violence, this in the schools. An important piece as it addresses Obama’s directives to education officials around the country to deal with the “disproportionate” discipline of black “yoots”.

Only tangentially related, I had intended to bring up the subject of the “mega-hit” movie, “Straight Out of Compton” and its contribution to improving race relations. I haven’t seen the movie. I probably won’t go without accompaniment by a Swat Team but, I cannot think that this must have been made with some darker intent than just “entertainment.

Just the movie’s trailers showing the swaggering sneering, menacing “heroes” of the movie can’t seem to possibly have any motive other than to heighten racial tensions and provide a “role model” for black youth aimed at promoting intimidating behavior.

And not to go unremarked is the name of the “gangsta rap” group that is the subject of the movie, “NWA”. Originally, as you might recall, they called themselves “Niggaz Wit Attitude” (see Wikipedia excerpt below)! How’s that for a positive theme.

And here’s a tribute to the art of album cover:

Quoting the movie heroes “our art reflects our reality”. May we humbly respond your reality is mostly self imposed and your music does not help black youth rise above a ghetto mentality.

(CNN) The photograph is considered one of the most provocative to ever grace an album cover: six guys staring toward the ground, one pointing a handgun. It was the cover art for “Straight Outta Compton,” the pioneering debut album by N.W.A that revolutionized gangsta rap and redefined hip hop.

This is an excerpt from Wikipedia:

N.W.A (an abbreviation of Niggaz wit’ Attitude ) [1] [2] [3] was an American hip hop group from Compton, California . It was one of the earliest and most significant popularizers of the gangsta rap and West Coast hip hop subgenres, and is widely considered one of the seminal groups in the history of hip hop music. [4] Active from 1986 to 1991, the rap group endured controversy owing to their music’s explicit lyrics that many viewed as being disrespectful of women, as well as its glorification of drugs and crime. [5] The group was subsequently banned from many mainstream American radio stations. In spite of this, the group has sold over 10 million units in the United States alone. The group was also known for their deep hatred of the police system, which sparked much controversy over the years.

Note the highlighted sentence describing what NWA was “also known for”. Doesn’t this fit neatly with the current tensions ginned up over wholly mischaracterized incidents in Ferguson, MO, in Florida (Trayvon), in New York? Definitely an idea whose time has come in the era of White House advisor on race relations, Rev. Al Sharpton and former racialist Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Is it possible this movie, its topic, its timing, its widespread all out hype is orchestrated by the White House/Hollywood/liberal media/Democratic Party “Complex”? Naw…that’s just too ” birthed” kind of stuff!  Race baiting for political power is foreign to them.
