Risky world of political prognostications

But hey! We at Veritaspac are willing to go out on a limb here.

Mr+Natural+finger+upConservatives will no doubt find it absurd but we are willing to predict that our GOP “negotiators” will get neither a halt on Syrian refugees, nor an end to the crude oil export ban in the “$1.1 trillion long term spending bill”.

Yes. We know that’s a shocking prediction to make, but we’re betting on the “bearded one” (P.Ryan) to capitulate just like his predecessor but with a bit more “eloquence” in telling us why he “had no choice”. (And incidentally, we are not willing to make a similar prediction regarding the Democrats’ wish list.)

Spending deal may hinge on federal study of gun violence

Democrats want federal money for gun violence research. Republicans want to halt Syrian refugees.

And the two parties may be willing to trade green energy tax cuts for an end to the crude oil export ban. . . .

“We are proffering back and forth,” Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Thursday, after the Democrats sent a new spending offer to the GOP Wednesday night.

“They want Democratic votes on a budget? That budget must allow the federal government to do research that is required to keep America safe,” Pelosi said.

You remember when Ms Pelosi  “proffered” back and forth with Republicans when she was Speaker . . . right?   And why is it anyway that Speaker Ryan needs Democrat support in the House?  Hmmm, and how much he needs  will determine how much Pelosi demands. Now if Ryan was proposing a conservative bill with important policy riders he would not need any Democrat votes.

Senator Grahamesty speaks

We better listen! This guy commands a big percentage of GOP support in his quest for the presidency.  His  finger is on the pulse of maybe zero point five percent of GOP primary and caucus voters.

Graham Slams GOPs ‘Irrational’ Obama Dislike: 40% Still Think He’s ‘a Kenyan-Born Muslim

Sen. Lindsey Graham Friday knocked the GOP’s “visceral” “dislike of President [Barack] Obama” during an interview on Boston Herald Radio.

“Well there’s about 40 percent of the Republican primary voter who believes that Obama was born in Kenya and is a Muslim,” Graham said, adding “there’s just a dislike for President Obama that is visceral. It’s almost irrational.”

Graham noted the Republican party is “not gonna win 270 electoral votes if you don’t grow the vote with the Hispanic community.”

Our bet is that Senator Grahamesty will not be the next President of the United States. his unicorn chasing prescription might get followed however leading to the loss of conservatives and blue collar voters.

Read his lips, and then anticipate the opposite

When Obama administration officials  say “they pose no threat”, we should all assume they must pose a really grave threat. Especially when Jeh Johnson’s Homeland Security Dept. says it.

Two Afghan Air Force trainees now being hunted by Homeland Security after they disappeared from U.S. military base in Georgia

Air Force officials say the Department of Homeland Security has taken the lead role in the search for two Afghan men who disappeared while training with the U.S. military at a base in south Georgia.

“Officials say they pose no threat but have ramped up efforts to find them”

Makes perfect sense “no threat” = “ramp up efforts”

The appropriations prediction will be impossible to sort out for awhile because of all the play fakes Ryan has available to him. But we hope we are wrong on items one and three.  Grahamnesty can kiss our grits.
