The President proposes, Congress disposes – remind them!

This from a reader out of Des Moines, regarding:

Grassley leaves open idea of Supreme Court hearing

We need to write and call not only Senator Grassley, but also Senator Ernst and Senate leader Mitch McConnell, to ask, urge, and encourage them to stay strong and not even lift a finger toward consideration of any nominee to the Supreme Court.  Perhaps we should write to every Republican member of the Judiciary Committee.

The President’s power grab over both immigration and EPA are enough reason to brush aside a nominee for the Court.

“The President proposes, Congress disposes,” should be our by-word.

When he was a Senator, Obama voted against every nominee of George Bush who came before him.  For a lame duck President, we need not extend any courtesy.

Though it had to do with the budget and not a nominee, I believe the phrase shown above was used often

If in the Iowa legislature the leader of the Senate, a Democrat, can refuse to act on many bills; and Senator Schumer said and did much the same for nominees during George Bush’s presidency, I see no problem with just not taking up the nomination during the next 11 months.          BD
