Did Pope just help elect Trump in South Carolina primary?

The Pope’s comments (see yesterday’s post) against Donald Trump and supporters of national integrity were an outrageous political statement for a pope to make.  His Holiness comments capped outrageous, pointed, unfair comments directed at American citizens at his Juarez political rally.  There is no Christian basis for Pope Francis to make the accusation that supporting a “wall” to protect a country is un-Christian. The Pope, by inference, castigated everyone who supports a barrier to unmitigated immigration, arguably invasion. That would include the majority of Senate Democrats who in 2006 voted for a fence, including, we do not hesitate to add, Hillary Clinton.

mySuperLamePic_cfa37586e0521ae63bc778c190477acfOne wonders if maybe Trump paid the Pope to turn undeniably political and say the things he said prior to overwhelmingly Protestant South Carolinians vote in Saturday’s primary. The Pope’s crack will not hurt Trump at all in South Carolina, but they are an embarrassment to right reason.

Trump for his part (based on some overnight comments) seems to be wanting to downplay any feud. Frankly we think the pope threw the first punch, at America.

But speaking of national borders, how dangerously high a ladder will immigrants need to carry to get over the Vatican walls?
