Cruz is right about Drudge

The Drudge Report is a news aggregator site.  It has had a reputation of specializing in posting links to articles of interest to conservatives (whether from, so called, mainstream media, conservative media or wherever). Busy conservatives depend on it for information at a glance, or for convenience to exercise the links and go further into the subject. The objectivity of the information at a glance depends on the objectivity of the Drudge subject line writers (they often characterize titles of linked articles) and of course the selection of articles.   Anybody running for office would like The Drudge Report “on their side.”

It remains an occasionally useful site lending some convenience and balance to what is otherwise available because the format, unchanged over the years, allows for a lot of links, at a glance.  However Ted Cruz rightfully implicated its selectivity and bias in its approach toward articles dealing with Trump and him. In this writer’s judgement, Drudge has served as a conduit for some sensational crap about Cruz and covered for Trump. We make it a point not to rely on it.

The Drudge Report’s general practice has been to change headlined stories and move or replace aging stories two or three times during the day.  But it lets linger sensationalized stories about Cruz (regular readers of Drudge KNOW that is true) and stories we think the Trump campaign wants left prominent in order to sustain Trump’s own narrative about news of the day.

Of course the Drudge Report would perhaps like to maintain that it doesn’t do that. But consider the following page grabs and the chronological indications (certified by us). They essentially present one story over a period of more than a day.  The headlines distort what the truth is about delegate rules as if they are focused to only stop Trump and that Cruz has done something untoward in organizing around them.

The truth is the RNC rules are there to be useful against anti-establishment candidates and that category includes Cruz.  However the Cruz campaign is a more seriously organized campaign and is leveraging what it can from the rules. Trump should stop whining and bullying and get to work on what wins in Cleveland. Drudge should get to work on repairing his bonafides.
