Perhaps you heard . . . the assassin of Police in Baton Rouge was a “Marine”

578c8dd5d3b4c.magnifiedEasily 24 hours into the aftermath, that somehow indicative backgrounder about the assailant being a Marine was about all that the newspapers could enlighten us with about the assassin.  It lead many a story.  The same source (AP) could tell us in the same article that this or that person was black, but not that the assailant was (he was black).  For example one of the police officers killed was identified as black.   Just about every conservative outlet by evening before the Argus -Dispatch would be put to bed, was reporting that the assailant had been a member of the Nation of Islam, that was based on checking his social media. Wow, what a sophisticated idea – check his social media.   The AP article could report no association with an extremest group, other than we guess, in their mind the Marines .  Update — the AP in on-line versions today included more information.
