Calls for RNC to cut off Trump are self-defeating for all

They are calls to concede defeat to Hillary. Their effect would be to “cut off the nose to spite the face. ”

The media has given much play to dozens of Republicans who have urged the  RNC to cut off funds for Trump.

The calls for the RNC to concentrate donor money to protect the down-ticket races ,which are  supposedly put at greater risk with Trump’s candidacy and performance, are not from unbiased in-touch neutral observers, or any other sober analysis.    The Hill refers to them as Never Trump Republicans.  They are not people making an objective appeal.

From our perspective it is crucial to understand that the Republic is at stake with a Clinton presidency, primarily because of the matter of Supreme Court appointments. She will absolutely make appointments that will lock-in all manner of very bad SCOTUS decision-making, indeed expand on them, concentrating federal power and influence, aggravating the assault on the culture, preventing its reclamation.  There is no alternative to aggressively fighting Hillary.

These signatories argue that Trump is going down (some such are working to ensure it, out of a goofy sense of purity) and that the only hope for the country is to “save the Senate” in particular so that Hillary as president can be checked.  They argue that spending money on Trump is wasted and increasing his prominence brings an association with him for Republicans that drags “the ticket” down, putting Senate seats at risk.

They might at least be thought of as sincere even if wrong if they expressed any care as to what the steadfastness of these senators “led” by Mitch McConnell needs to be.  Experience allows us to predict another series of show fights, as against Obama, inevitably caving having tried “very very hard” of course to stop Hillary.  One would have to have a lot more confidence in a “Republican” Senate to say that is not the best bet.

And just who would they recommend spending money on –  Mark Kirk perhaps — who has already repudiated Trump — and who is engaged in a “tight?” race in a blue state. Even if he wins, Mark Kirk will be the first to reach across the aisle and vote for most any Hillary nominee regardless of  any bluster from Mitch McConnell.  We have seen Kirk’s and McConnell’s performances before.

Why is Hillary assumed to not be a drag on Democrats?

Our response to the Never Trump people includes that the effect of spending money is not, or need not be an either/or proposition.  Whatever happened to running against Democrats and for Republican principles and letting the chips fall where they may?

It is simple, straight-forward and uncomplicated enough.  Go after Hillary vigorously, associate the Democrats in races everywhere with her —  with how bad it will be with Democrats in charge —  with her corruption, her radical policies.  Identify Republican candidates as the Hillary alternative with U.S. first policies.   That needs to start NOW.  Inoculate people with a triple dose of fear of Hillary, her policies and her enablers.

Spending money that way is far more efficient than running all manner of divergent themes in order to “save’ this Republican or that one.  Third time, — the best strategy is attack Hillary, associate all Democrats with her, expose their radical designs, articulate conservative principles.

Spend money as never before

Our advice does not entail a carte blanche to Trump, more an allied strategic independent expenditure. Dumping money on Trump is not the answer any more than it proved to be with Romney. Either or approaches have short-changed good candidates for too long. One or the other hogging the air-space for name ID is not smart. Don’t operate this as the Trump election but the stop Hillary Democrats election. But don’t short change the presidential or concede defeat.

By going public we hope the letter writers have made it impossible for the RNC to do any such thing as not go all out to defeat Hillary as much as before.  The appearance would demoralize much grass-roots support up and down ticket, hurting over-all chances, the very thing the letter’s signatories say they are trying to prevent.

Now having said all this, Trump is said (by him) to have a lot money, indeed he played up the self-financing, “won’t be dependent on anyone” card. It may come due in all its permutations.  Fighting Hillary for his part is money well spent.
