Barack’s barracks confusion
TIME FOR A NEW MISSION STATEMENT?
The Ashton Carter/Ray Mabus Mission for the USMC: Delete the “To Win Wars” part and add “Achieve 10% Women, X% Transgenders”.
Inherent in the objective described in the story excerpted below, “Marines turn to high school sports teams for recruits”, is the Obama aim to divert the resources that his own policies are making increasingly scarce, to serve goals which have little or nothing to do with the military mission of the Marine Corps.
The Marines are under heavy pressure by the Obama Defense Dept. to meet “diversity” goals, prime among them at this point is a goal of 10% women. (In the military, no commander sees a “goal” as anything but a “quota” which must be met by the next “fitness report”) That’s for now. To reach it requires, as this article suggests, stepped up recruiting efforts which in turn means more recruiting expenditures and diversion of resources. Don’t think that a dramatic increase in recruiting budgets (funds which must be taken from other training and equipment and supplies accounts) is all there is to it, however.
When will it be reported how much must be or is being spent to alter or increase various kinds of facilities and services to meet the needs of this increasingly “diverse” force? How much will have to be spent to train Marines in the proper behavior they must maintain toward their “fellow” female, gay, and transgender leathernecks. How much is already being spent to change the Corps’ specialty codes (job titles) to conform to the goals. Increases in medical and social services will be necessary to insure the well being of the growing number of non-straight, non-male, “gender neutral warriors”.
Watch for the steps and incentives the services, not just the USMC, will take and offer in order to make ‘military service’ attractive to these sorely needed “manpower” resources. To begin with, lose that “MANpower” terminology…and don’t think “man&womanpower” will do it! Maybe “Cis-genderpower”?
To create a “welcoming environment” for the armed forces’ newest sought after recruits, won’t gay Officers’ and NCO clubs be a must? Will “gender-confused” or “gender-uncertain” troops be issued both male and female iniforms to conform to their preferred gender-of-the-day?
Won’t barracks life be a lot more interesting with the ‘rich’ diversity the military will be forced to introduce? The term “unit cohesiveness” takes on new meaning in the military of the near future!
And the training and standards necessary to effectively carry out the mission of the Marine Corps and enhance the survival prospects of its members? What courses will be added and replaced in the training curriculum? Is all that weapons training and combat tactics as important as instruction on “gender-identity discrimination”? (See New York’s new rules on gender discrimination.)
Well, come on now, what’s more important? (I’d suggest not asking Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter or Navy Secretary Ray Mabus. Their answer is not likely to be very satisfying to Americans who honor and respect the members of our Armed Forces and share deep concerns about national security.)
Marines turn to girls high school sports teams for recruits (excerpt)
Marine recruiters are turning to girls high school sports teams to find candidates who may be able to meet the Corps’ rigorous physical standards, including for the front-line combat jobs now open to women.
Marine Commandant Gen. Robert Neller says he wants to increase the number of women in the Corps to 1 in 10. . . .
For years, only about 7 percent to 8 percent of the Corps, which numbers 184,200, has been women. It’s the smallest percentage of women among all the military services. But on the heels of the Pentagon decision to allow women who qualify to serve in combat jobs, thousands of new infantry, armor and other front-line posts are now open.
