Two topics in today’s news seem to cry out for serious, in-depth journalistic reporting, investigation and analysis…none of which is likely to occur by the left and we will see how much on the right.
a) Fidel Castro’s long awaited death. Will be interesting to see who goes to the funeral and what statements will be made by whom. Will Obama go…or send ‘good ol’ Joe’? Did Pope Francis “broker” a deal with the Lord on Fidel’s behalf when those two were canoodling earlier this year? Will the Vatican send emissaries to the funeral…my guess is ‘yes’?
How will Fidel’s murderous, oppressive years on earth be glossed over by the world’s left, especially the leftist US press and politicians?
Won’t it be “fun” to watch Beyonce and Jayzee, and Colin Kapernieck and the Congressional Black Caucus and Oliver Stone and all the other celebs and US communists issue their heartfelt condolences?
b) The presidential vote recounts going forward in Wisc., next week and likely in Penn.and Michigan later.Too many folks are discounting the dire potential of this. Not that many vote counters need to be bought, not that many “uncounted” ballots need to be “found” in warehouses or storage rooms at voting stations. That the Wisconsin electoral commissioner would approve a recount request by a candidate (Jill Stein) who got 1% of the vote and acknowledges “there is no evidence a hack (or any other irregularities) occurred” is in itself astonishing except for the fact the commission is Democrat dominated, as it is in Mich. and Penn (I’m guessing but that would be part of any research). (Whatever happened to that popular stance courts like to take in rejecting conservative appeals…”lack of standing”)
Good journalistic reporting and analysis would include recalling the Gregoire “triple vote count in Washington state in 2004, which yielded her 130 vote win after enough ‘uncounted’ ballots were discovered in Dem stronghold King county and favorable rulings by “right-minded” judges were obtained. Also the widely acknowledged corruption of the Al Franken/ Coleman election in Minn.
But who’s got time for that kind of digging? DLH
