1 & 2  The Russians Didn’t Influence the Election  Ed Klien at Town Hall

In telephone conversations with Donald Trump, FBI Director James Comey assured the president-elect there was no credible evidence that Russia influenced the outcome of the recent U.S. presidential election by hacking the Democratic National Committee and the e-mails of John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

What’s more, Comey told Trump that James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, agreed with this FBI assessment.

The only member of the U.S. intelligence community who was ready to assert that the Russians sanctioned the hacking was John Brennan, the director of the CIA, according to sources who were briefed on Comey’s conversations with Trump.

“And Brennan takes his marching orders from President Obama,” the sources quoted Comey as saying.

In Comey’s view, the leaks to the New York Times and the Washington Post alleging that the Russians tried—and perhaps even succeeded—in tilting the election to Trump were a Democratic Party effort to delegitimize Trump’s victory.

During their phone conversations, Comey informed Trump that the FBI had been alert for the past year to the danger that the Russians would try to cause mischief during the U.S. presidential election.

However, whether the Russians did so remains an open question, Comey said, adding that it was just as likely that the hacking was done by people who had no direct connection to the Russian government.

“It’s also unclear,” the sources pointed out, “why Putin would have preferred dealing with Donald Trump, who has promised a major military buildup, over Hillary Clinton, who would have continued Barack Obama’s cautious policies toward the Kremlin.”

3  DHS Chief: ‘No Evidence’ Hacking Affected Ballot Count on Election Night         Leah Barkoukis at Town Hall:

Contrary to the CIA’s assessment that Russian cyberattacks helped Donald Trump win the election, the head of the Department of Homeland Security said there was no evidence to indicate anything of the sort happened.

Speaking with the Washington Post’s David Ignatius, Jeh Johnson explained DHS’s cyber team was ready on election night and they didn’t see “anything that affected the ballot count,” he said.

Ignatius pressed him on this, asking whether he could assure Americans that Russian hacking did not affect the outcome of the election.

“We see no evidence that hacking by any actor altered the ballot count for any cyber actions that deprived people of voting,” he replied.

4  Rep. King Accuses Intel Agencies Of Playing ‘House of Cards’ After Canceled Russian Hack Briefing       Cortney O’Brien  at Town Hall;

Intelligence agencies have refused to provide the House Intelligence Committee with information into its investigation of Russian hacking claims, Fox News is reporting. The session had been scheduled for Thursday. Chairman Kevin Nunes (R-CA), as you can imagine, is incensed.

“It is unacceptable that the Intelligence Community directors would not fulfill the House Intelligence Committee’s request to be briefed tomorrow on the cyber-attacks that occurred during the presidential campaign,” Nunes said in a statement. “The Committee is deeply concerned that intransigence in sharing intelligence with Congress can enable the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes.”

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) echoed his colleague’s sentiments, calling the cancellation an “absolute disgrace” on “The Kelly File” Wednesday night.

“This could be a whole house of cards,” King said. He surmised that the agencies are shutting out Congress in its attempt to “discredit” president-elect Donald Trump.

If the CIA did find something earth shattering that could have affected the election outcome, didn’t they have “obligation” to come before Congress and tell us if they found anything? King demanded.

5  Obama Says Russia Did NOT Rig Election for Trump   Conservative Tribune

As for the intelligence review he ordered regarding the allegations of Russian hacking, Obama stated that was mostly just to tie together all of the “loose threads” revealed in prior investigations, as his administration has been looking into the notion for the past several months.

“When the DNC (Democrat National Committee) got hacked, we immediately assigned our intelligence community — our law enforcement — to investigate what had happened,” explained Obama, according to The U.K. Telegraph.

“And we determined — and announced — in October that it was the consensus of all the intelligence agencies in law enforcement that organizations affiliated with Russian intelligence were responsible for the hacking of the DNC materials that were being leaked,” he said. “That was a month before the election. This was not a secret.”

Veritaspac analysis: The supposed “consensus” Obama refers to “Russian intelligence agencies responsible” – was not shared by the FBI ( the agency responsible for domestic  counter espionage) in that Director Comey says such a connection is unclear nor by DNI (see item 1, references ).  The “consensus” seems to be narrowed down to his CIA political hack Director Brennan.  But even if Russian intelligence was hacking away Obama admits that any effect on the vote counting by them did not happen ( a red herring in that it could not have as the system is not internet dependent as yet).

Raising the Russia specter was based on flimsy pretext (and political corruption) in an effort to  associate Trump with friendliness to Russia in order to undercut him from his base. But as Obama says, the warnings (accusations) were out there pre-election (it had been out there for weeks). The political impact, such as it was, was baked in.  Besides that actual hacking of the voting process did not happen, the political impact of the specter of Russia and Trump being friendly, did not alter the election result either. As far as the information that came out about the DNC and Hillary, they could only sputter but not deny the truth of it.  They are trying now to sort of blame the messenger, whoever it might be, in an effort to denigrate Trump’s win, and divert focus from the truth revealed. Raising the specter of the normally detestable Russians, whether or not they are innocent in this instance, is in line with that.

6  WikiLeaks figure says ‘disgusted’ Democrat leaked Clinton campaign emails    Washington Times:

A WikiLeaks figure is claiming that he received leaked Clinton campaign emails from a “disgusted” Democratic whistleblower, while the White House continued to blame Russian hackers Wednesday for meddling in the presidential election and asserted that Donald Trump was “obviously aware” of Moscow’s efforts on his behalf.

Craig Murray, a former British ambassador to Uzbekistan and a close associate of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, said in the report by the Daily Mail that he flew to Washington for a clandestine handoff with one of the email sources in September.

He said he received a package in a wooded area near American University.
“Neither of [the leaks] came from the Russians,” Mr. Murray told the British newspaper. “The source had legal access to the information. The documents came from inside leaks, not hacks.

The American people do not buy the idea that Russia had any political influence, and they ought to know.  From Gary Bauer at CFWF

Fortunately, most Americans aren’t buying the left’s nonsense. A new poll finds that just 32% of Americans believe Russia’s attempts to influence the election helped Trump, while 59% say Russia’s efforts had no effect. That 32% probably thinks Elvis is hanging out with Martians too.

The numbers are such that a lot of people who voted for Hillary don’t buy the Russian boogie man crap either.

8  The electoral college meets Monday (each state’s electors meet in their respective state capitols) and we predict Trump will get 305 votes from faithful electors across the nation. He won 306 but there is apparently one calcified Republican individual from Texas who refuses to vote Trump.  We needn’t argue the so-called Hamiltonian view that electors can do what they want, we believe the Republican electors in each of the state’s Trump won the popular vote in, not only have seen nothing to dissuade them from fulfilling what most pledged to do, which is to vote their state’s electoral decision, but we believe they have been endeared to Trump based on all the good news about his cabinet picks.
