This explanation from Christians United for Israel

When the UN Security Council voted last month to declare Jewish homes in much of Jerusalem illegal, the US shamefully abstained. Refusing to veto this one-sided resolution was a reversal of longstanding US foreign policy. With one blow, the Obama Administration demonized the Middle East’s sole democracy, ignored Palestinian terrorism and refusal to negotiate, and undermined the future of the peace process.

We have a brief window of opportunity to send a strong message to the Obama Administration that Americans don’t want them to do any further damage to Israel at the UN.

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote tomorrow on a resolution calling for this U.N. resolution to be repealed and for the Obama Administration to veto any further anti-Israel resolutions brought forward in that body. We want to see this House legislation pass overwhelmingly. We want both the Obama Administration and the UN to know that the American people reject the one-sided scapegoating of the Jewish state.

For Jerusalem’s sake, please click here now to email your Representative and ask them to support this important House resolution.

Blessings to you and those you love,

Subject: Please support House Resolution 11

Dear Member of Congress,

As you know, in late December the Obama Administration allowed the UN Security Council to pass a one-sided resolution condemning Jewish construction in east Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The decision to allow Resolution 2334 to move forward constituted a dramatic shift from the longstanding American policy to shield our ally Israel from the worst tendencies of the UN. Resolution 2334 does nothing to advance peace in the region. Instead, it demonizes the Middle East’s sole democracy, ignores Palestinian terrorism and refusal to negotiate, and undermines the future of the peace process. Why should the Palestinians ever return to the negotiating table when they can get all they seek from the UN without making any concessions?

I’m therefore writing to ask that you join the bipartisan effort to support H. Res. 11. This critical legislation condemns Security Council Resolution 2334 and calls upon the Obama Administration to veto any further anti-Israel resolutions in that body.

The vote on H. Res. 11 gives you an opportunity to right a terrible wrong. I hope to see your name among those voting to condemn this and future UN efforts to scapegoat Israel and sideline the peace process.

Sincerely,
