Mea Culpa . . . but we just couldn’t resist

Pope tells priests to call in exorcists when needed   . . .

“A good confessor has to be very discerning, particularly when he has to deal with “real spiritual disorders…” Pope Francis, 2017

Like when a confessor admits to having voted for Trump?

Note to Veritaspac readers:

We have long expressed our opinion that Pope Francis is, among other things, a deeply devoted socialist.

He has enthusiastically embraced, and attempts to advance, most every aspiration of today’s left. He has condemned capitalism, he seems to blame the US for every ill suffered by the communist-ruled nations of Latin America and Cuba, including his own home country of Argentina. He’s a supporter of the most radical “solutions” to “climate change”. He could have been reading from Barack Obama’s speeches about “income inequality”, the virtues of globalism, the redistribution of income and wealth. He has condemned what he terms “Populism” as expressed in such ways as national sovereignty, the control of a nation’s borders, the preservation by its citizens of a society’s unique values and culture, etc.

Like Obama and most progressives and many radical leftists, Francis has extolled the virtues of “globalism”. He seems to have his personal ideological priorities which tend to rather faintly support fundamental tenets of the church he heads (anti-abortion,etc), while enthusiastically promoting the conventional, and even some radical, aspirations of progressivism.

Thus, we find it curious about the Pontiff’s recent energetic promotion of the ancient rite of “exorcism”…especially when his most recent rants (always presented with the utmost ‘humbleness’) have been rather thinly veiled criticism of conservatism, “populism”, the will of US voters in the last election, and, perhaps most of all, President Trump “and all his works”!

Don’t be surprised fellow Catholic ‘Trump voters’, if after a visit to the confessional, you get a visit from “Father Karras”.

Pope tells priests to call in exorcists when needed

Vatican City (AFP) – Pope Francis on Friday advised priests who hear troubled confessions from parishioners to not hesitate to call on the services of an exorcist.

A good confessor has to be very discerning, particularly when he has to deal with “real spiritual disorders,” the 80-year-old pontiff told priests at a Vatican training seminar on the art of hearing believers recount their sins.

Disorders could have their roots in all manner of circumstances, including supernatural ones, he suggested.

In such circumstances the confessor “must not hesitate to refer to exorcists… chosen with great care and prudence.”

It is not the first time the pope has talked about exorcising demons from a believer’s person, and he generally refers more frequently than his predecessors to the devil, characterising him as a physical presence in this world.

Francis has described jihadists who stabbed a French priest to death as satanic and the acts of priests who sexually abuse children as akin to participating in a satanic mass.

Vatican universities also regularly hold training courses for would-be exorcists despite the practice being frowned upon by some Church intellectuals.

Word is he has ordered a ritual for capitalists, although it need not be administered by a priest. Any Marxist is given dispensation to administer the rite as they see fit. The Pope knows many good ones.

I wonder if Il Papa would make such a comparison with ‘Christian believers” who perform, or support those who perform, late term abortions… or legislators who oppose treatment for infants who survive abortion (I think I know of one of the latter, a former Illinois legislator for whom His Holiness seems to have great admiration for).
