Worldwide Headlines For A Day…Once Again
You gotta admit, FBI Director James Comey’s ‘got game’. He’s on the verge of becoming the subject of a hit Broadway musical.
If America had ever before had an FBI Director like him, America would no longer have an FBI. J Edgar Hoover had his unique and disturbing faults but the Bureau under his leadership delivered for the most part on its mission of effective law enforcement and national security.
Jim Comey has his own mission…the celebration of The Great Jim Comey!
He may be the most inept self-promoter ever to come on our national stage. But at this moment in history, it appears to be working for him…to the detriment of a nation in dangerous times.
One day he is the Toast of the Liberal Media and the radical leftist element in this country. The next day, he’s the darling of the Washington establishment. The next, who knows?
Any coherence in what Jim Comey “announces” to the world has a shelf life of one news cycle. After that, its speculation on what he said, why he said it, and what action and results will flow from it…until “Big Jim’s” next “announcement”.
Monday’s testimony by the nation’s chief ‘gumshoe’ was typical Comey:
Yes the Trump administration is being ‘investigated’ for collusion with foreign entities to ‘influence’ the presidential election; No, there’s been no illegal surveillance of members of the Trump transition team or administration. Yes, there have been criminal leaks potentially damaging to national security, and ‘we’re on it, kinda’; “I’ve received ‘permission from the DOJ to reveal that; however, I can’t reveal any other pending investigation’; and, as you know we can’t estimate how long an investigation might take (but , take heart, Democrats, with luck it will outlast the Trump presidency).
As the Wall Street Journal (and every other media reports today), Comey’s testimony could hurt President Trump’s “clout in the Capitol” (well, no kidding; who’da thought?).
And Democrats cheered! (Also duly noted by the entire liberal media.)
For all those Democrats furious with Mr. Comey for his theatrical handling of Hillary Clinton’s various scandals, Big Jim is now once again the “Nation’s Foremost Stand Up Guy”… a model of an even-handed justice seeker.
So Mr. Comey is back on the MainStage, the solitary “good man” in the spotlight all by himself, preparing to rap out his next hit tune.
What next for Jim…a Broadway show named for him?:
