Stand your ground passes Iowa legislature – awaits Governor Branstad’s signature

Much confusion exists over the intent and legal effect of  “stand your ground ” legislation.  This article at National Review gives an example of its misapplication by the media and some explanation by inference of where it does apply.  It can still be confusing so readers with links to additional explanations are encouraged to comment about those sites and make any recommendations.

The Mainstream Media Gets ‘Stand Your Ground’ Laws Wrong — Again

Interestingly but not surprisingly, as we did a “google” search of the topic “how many states have stand your ground”  the articles in the array were overwhelmingly to non– second amendment supporting sites and tended to be two years old as if no legislative developments have occurred in that time (Iowa for one).  Other search engines were maybe not quite as biased. Paid position placements remain necessary for the conservative message to get through adequately.

The number of stand your ground states is unclear to us at this writing but is at least well into the twenties, and a number of them being so for years.  Media in this state would have you believe that Iowa has embarked on a new dangerous experimental program that will result in street deaths like Chicago, which of course does not have stand your ground.
