How else to explain?

Byron York at The Washington Examiner writes :  (excerpt)

The Republican-controlled House and Senate both voted to repeal Obamacare in January 2016. In the House, 239 Republicans voted for repeal, while three voted against it and four did not vote. President Obama, of course, vetoed the bill.

“Now, with a president who would sign an Obamacare repeal, there’s no way Republicans could get as many votes as last year.

“A pure repeal would get less than 200 votes,” said the second member quoted above. “It really is one of the biggest political shams in history — many of these members would not have been elected without promising repeal, and now they are wilting.”

I firmly believe it is fair to say that the essence of this piece by Byron York will not be made available for reading, viewing, or listening by the vast majority of Americans.

It is an indisputable indictment of the Republican party, its leadership and a significant percentage of its elected members.

Every one of the GOP congressional election campaigns of the past 4 to 6 years have been models of political treachery. Completely fraudulent promises, meaningless congressional votes, mendacious and ineffective leadership…all have become the signature model of the Republican party and its large number of dishonest politicians.

Whatever one might think of Donald Trump, it would be grossly unfair to say that he has not sought to the fullest extent of his powers to keep the major promises of his campaign. Among them repeal and replacement of Obamacare and border security are unfortunately dependent to a great extent on the nearly full support of the Republican party and its leadership.

York makes a solid and persuasive case that President Trump and the majority of the American people are victims of the most dishonest, disloyal, and cynical bunch of politicians one party has ever had.

But, that’s just my opinion.          DLH
