Ushered out

THIS IS A STORY MADE TO ORDER FOR THE WASHINGTON POST AND THE LIBERAL, ANTI-TRUMP PRESS

White House fires its chief usher — the first woman in that job
– “Reid was said to be close to the Obamas, who hired her for the job…”

– “Despite the unusual title, the chief usher oversees all activities in the White House residence…”

– “Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian and professor of history at Rice University, said that it is highly unusual for an administration to fire its chief usher, especially without providing any explanation. “If there is a very compelling reason for the dismissal, the White House needs to tell the public” he said. “Otherwise it comes off as cruel.”

– “These are the people (THE USHERS) that have the most intimate details and knowledge of how you live your life,”

——
Doug Brinkley is a liberal historian and Rice University professor (but I repeat myself). He helpfully provides a quote for the WaPo to the extent that Ms. Reid’s firing could “be cruel”.

The story does include, however a couple of “reasons” which might suggest that Ms. Reid’s dismissal could be related to matters other than the Trump family’s tendencies toward utter “cruelty”.

First of all we learn that the chief usher “works closely with the first family…(and provides)… guidance on furnishings, art and decor.”

Now I can’t speak for the Trumps, of course, but a “chief usher” who has provided “guidance on furnishings, art and decor” to the satisfaction of the Obamas is not likely to “provide guidance” on those matters which would suit my taste…more than likely quite the opposite. But that’s just me.

And then, there’s the matter of ushers having “the most intimate details and knowledge of how you live your life”. That is just about the last thing I’d want one who was “close to the Obamas” to have, especially if I were a Trump. That could be even more effective than NSA surveillance.

And then, there’s this tiny little item:

“In 2014, the usher’s office — then under Reid — found itself embroiled in a controversy after a fence-jumper, who was carrying a knife, made it well inside the executive mansion. At the time, the Security Service said that an alarm box near the White House’s front entrance intended to alert its agents to intruders had been muted at the request of the usher’s office, which felt it was too noisy and frequently malfunctioning.”

Now admittedly Ms. Reid has a lot going for her with the Washington Post and the “fake news” networks (you know who they are). She being “the first…(and I mean THE very first)…African American woman” usher (or is it “usherette”?), it takes a lot of nerve to fire her. This is made to order for another low grade CNN “shocking Trump transgression”!
Oh well, so what’s new?

Another excerpt providing the flavor of the report (emphasis ours):

White House fires its chief usher — the first woman in that job

The White House has fired its chief usher, Angella Reid, the first woman and second African American to hold the position.

When the White House residence staff arrived at work Friday morning, they were told that Reid was no longer employed, according to someone with knowledge of the dismissal. A White House official confirmed that Reid is no longer working at the White House.

“We are very grateful for her service and wish her the very best,” the official said.
Reached by phone, Reid declined to comment, saying only, “I think it’s best if the White House explains.”

Nothing like setting a tone
