Corrine Brown found guilty on 18 charges
Former congresswoman convicted of conspiracy, mail and wire fraud, tax fraud
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former U.S. Rep Corrine Brown is now a convicted felon 18 times over after she was found guilty Thursday in her federal corruption trial related to the theft of money from an unregistered Virginia-based charity.
Brown, who listened in stunned silence as the verdicts were read, was convicted of conspiracy, five counts of mail fraud, seven counts of wire fraud, one count of scheme to conceal material facts, one count of obstruction of IRS laws and three tax fraud charges. She was found not guilty of two mail fraud counts and two wire fraud counts.
Its not that Republicans don’t have their grifters and such, they do, but the responses by Dems about disrespect’n their felons is ~~ priceless. From the article above:
Brown supporter Denise Hunt said she believed the trial was fair but that Brown was treated badly after the verdicts were read Thursday because she was “paraded through the front door” and through a swarm of cameras.
“I’m hurt not because she was found guilty — it’s about whatever the system says it is; I accept that,” Hunt said. “But the fact they couldn’t give her the courtesy or decency to come out the back door. Come on, she built this place. She named it. It’s a damn shame in Jacksonville today we have no decency, no respect for black life in this city.”
