So politics is not involved in rocket science

Currently and likely for quite some time over the next several weeks, the Texas/ Louisiana flooding disaster and the North Korean threat of nuclear war will dominate the news. Along with that of course is ongoing Trump Hatred Syndrome suffered by the media and the Democrats as well as the truly frightening behavior of the one time respected FBI.

One story is not likely to get much press but saner heads in the nation and especially Florida ought to.

File this one under “Rubio and Nelson…2 natural disasters that could have been be prevented… at the ballot box”:

In the traditional pre-holiday weekend “data dump”, President Trump announced a slew of overdue executive appointments…some which one would imagine not to be terribly controversial: For example, congratulations to:

David Dale Reimer; David landed the coveted position of U.S. Ambassador to Mauritius and the Seychelles. Way to go, David!

There were, however, some very significant appointments, one of which is that of Oklahoma Rep. Jim Bridenstine to head NASA. Probably surprises no Washington observers but that is already described as “causing controversy on both sides of the political aisle”.

Imagine that!

Further, if you are not an avid follower of the DC Establishment, you might be surprised that the “Republican” leading this ‘bi-partisan’ controversy is that cute little fellow from Florida, Senator Marco Rubio!

Now get this: “Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson, both of Florida, say a politician should not have the lead role in the country’s space program…”!!!!!!!!!!!

Here’s what Marco told Politico:

“It’s the one federal mission which has largely been free of politics and it’s at a critical juncture in its history,” he added. “I would hate to see an administrator held up — on [grounds of] partisanship, political arguments, past votes, or statements made in the past — because the agency can’t afford it and it can’t afford the controversy.”

So Marco Rubio thinks NASA is “the one federal mission which has been largely free of politics”.

Marco, ever heard of James Hansen?:

James Hansen, former Nasa scientist, considered the father of global awareness of climate change, is a soft-spoken, almost diffident Iowan. (UK Guardian)
read on; this from the UK Telegraph:

One of the first examples of these “adjustments” was exposed in 2007 by the statistician Steve McIntyre, when he discovered a paper published in 1987 by James Hansen, the scientist (later turned fanatical climate activist) who for many years ran Giss. Hansen’s original graph showed temperatures in the Arctic as having been much higher around 1940 than at any time since. But as Homewood reveals in his blog post, “Temperature adjustments transform Arctic history”, Giss has turned this upside down. Arctic temperatures from that time have been lowered so much that that they are now dwarfed by those of the past 20 years.

Hansen led the Climate change hysteria” bandwagon while he was at NASA!
But then, there’s this. Senator Rubio, who may have been busy working on amnesty for illegal immigrants at the time, might have missed this on:

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his “foremost” mission as the head of America’s space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world. Fox News, July 2010)

“When I became the NASA administrator — or before I became the NASA administrator — he (President Obama) charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering,” Bolden said in the interview.

WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN, SENATOR RUBIO…ABOUT “IT’S THE ONE FEDERAL MISSION WHICH HAS BEEN…FREE OF POLITICS”????!!!!
