Tornado perspective

First our best wishes to the central Iowa folks experiencing property damage from the tornadoes throughout the area.   Thankfully no deaths or serious injuries were reported. Marshalltown was the hardest hit with a swath extending from Bondurant to Pella doing extensive damage as well.

Here is a photo forwarded by HP we found awe-inspiring.  It is of a tornado near Bondurant (cross-country travelers will remember the name as the large exit off of I-80 just east of Des Moines)

Articles about the Iowa storms are abundant. See two of them here and here. While not faulting the Weather Service we found ironic the following in context of all the assuredness expressed by global warmists about weather patterns, predictability, temperature readings, what will happen because of this or that, in the climate change debate (it is really a chickenshit little debate, no one denies that climate does change).

Alex Krull, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, said that forecasting models produced Thursday morning showed only a slight chance of strong thunderstorms later in the day.

“This morning, it didn’t look like tornadic supercells were possible,” Krull said. “If anything, we were expecting we could get some large hail, if strong storms developed.

Oh well. The thing is F4 and F5 tornadoes are not all that rare in Iowa  so if anyone says ~~ wow see what global warming is producing ~~ you can brag up that, “hey we are in the top two or three, since the scale has been used, going on 70 years.” The most recent damaging tornado system here is currently being said to have produced only F3 scale, as destructive as they can be. F1’s and F2’s are more frequent yet.  We have probably had a couple of those this year just in this county.  Tornado sightings are just standard fare this time of year.

Get thee to a nunnery, climate change denier! The Vatican has so decreed.
