The Morally Superior Globe Trotter of Marin County

I have a former colleague with whom I worked for a number of years at a former employer.

Always a proud liberal, we had debates and discussions from time to time.

Many years have passed since we went our separate ways. He joined a couple of other companies and has been quite successful (financially), retiring with significant wealth (which he does not strive mightily to conceal).

He is still the liberal, and over the years has apparently become even moreso. Now living in Nancy Pelosi’s district in California, I guesscv that is understandable.

This past year, my former associate undertook an odyssey…an extended trip back to Europe where he served as an expatriate with our former corporation…as I did, not in Europe, but in Asia.

He has regaled his friends and California neighbors with a diary of his trip. In it he provides perhaps unintended (or very intended) insight into his liberal mind. In virtually every passage he seems unable to conceal his leftist views.

A friend who has been a recipient of his internet diary musings forwarded many of his “communiques” to me as my former colleague revisited his continental adventure ‘back in the day’.

Perhaps as a matter of interest and possibly a sharp insight into his ‘liberalness’, I include here an excerpt from one of my former colleague’s recollections:

“That evening, before falling asleep, I was thinking that I could spend more time here. This is pretty good. To be living in a culture other than my own. Not to be concerned with the politics of our home country. To be somewhere…France, Spain, Italy…spared of the daily bombardment of the tribalism of blues and reds.
“There is an important election coming up. Do I really think the United States will correct its course to be neither red or blue, but to take the next right action? To attack climate change? To become inclusive? To treat all its citizens fairly and equally? To end the built-in treatment of women as something less than a white male? Honestly? Kavanaugh sounded like me when I was drinking in his rebuttal. And they put him on the highest court in the land. It, frankly, is a disgrace. Funny the thoughts that go through your head when you get to view the US from a distance…”

“… (it) is “pretty good…living in a culture other than my (his) own”.

That’s what he said. That’s what he really thinks! To that I observe that now, the opportunity to enjoy that “experience”, far into the future, is at hand:

As thousands of Hondurans head for the US of A, my colleague and his spouse and all their friends in Marin County have the chance to “reach out” and to take into their homes and fields and schools, a “culture other than their own” , and to share their bounty (which their despicable “own culture” has so unfairly given them).

Please my friend, take into your hearts, the poor, the downtrodden, the shamefully exploited (by America)… the multitudes.

And consider the “good news” resulting from your graciousness :

1) your moral superiority can be nurtured and flourish, and validated, as the world sees your generosity and unselfishness, as you bask in the glories of the “culture other than your own”.

2) When Marin County, and all of California have finally been settled by your new “neighbors” in what will surely be called, appropriately, the “New Honduras”, you and your friends and old neighbors might be moved to appeal to President Trump for the $70 million we taxpayers have been sending, annually, to “Old Honduras” to help them better their community… they’ll no longer need it, but you probably will!
