We must have wandered into one of John Boehner’s pot sales seminars but here goes:
We would like Paul Ryan to resign while initiating a special meeting for Republicans to elect Jim Jordan to serve as Speaker for the remaining two months of the current congress. His sort is what is absolutely needed now to lead Republicans, not just when Pelosi takes the gavel.
Jordan should immediately move to pass laws in the so-called lame-duck session for as long as needed to get done what Paul Ryan personally did not like, sabotaged or opposed or was hypocritical about or was too feckless to make happen.
In particular a border fence and hard-core illegal entry laws and an end to granting citizenship to children of people here illegally. At the same time and at least as important, pass real healthcare reform or anything to further gut the Obamacare takeover regime still in operation. And there are other important matters as well, such as actually defund Planned Parenthood.
These must be done in ways that will make the opposition trying to undo them more difficult. Position the opposition to have to overcome a Presidential veto.
It is what Democrats would do to advance their agenda.
Of course the scenario requires a commitment from Mitch McConnell which makes plausible our initial theory as to how this thought process came about.
Remembering Ryan hypocrisy:
Ryan should think of his future and do what Boehner has done, cash in after leaving office and get into business supporting certain things he previously opposed. You know he is going to cash in.
