“On Tuesday, Emerald Robinson, chief White House correspondent for One America News Network (OANN), unleashed a powerful rumor that The Weekly Standard is on its last legs. Sources confirmed to CNN that Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes warned staff the future of the paper is uncertain. One of the magazine’s key editors, Bill Kristol, has adopted a firmly anti-Trump stance, becoming a well-known #NeverTrump leader.
“BREAKING: Multiple sources tell me that neocon magazine [The Weekly Standard] is expected to close its operations in a few weeks,” Robinson tweeted. “It had lost many subscribers since the 2016 election as its [Never Trumper] editors [Bill Kristol, Stephen Hayes, and Charlie Sykes] publicly aligned with the Left.”

Several years ago, it struck me that the supposedly ‘conservative’ magazine, “The Weekly Standard”, was really not very conservative at all. I cannot remember specifically the incidents that alerted me to the fact. I do recall, though, that they were obvious enough and egregious enough that I stopped subscribing. In fact, as I do recall, I did not wait until it was time to renew…I summarily cancelled my subscription, forfeiting the remaining issues.
Today, I somewhat regret that I did so at that time. I wish, instead perhaps, that I could have waited until Bill Kristol, the editor, had come out of the ‘anti-Trump, pro-Hillary ‘closet’ and then cancelled to send my own tiny, but clear and more timely, protest.
At any rate…Good riddance to bad rubbish, Weekly Standard! DLH
