A good name for Cardi B’s band: “Lil Vulgar”*

Com’on people, can’t y’all tell the difference between a “sensual song” and the “racist content ” of a Dr. Seuss book?

So you prudes thought there was something “pornographic” about our report on Cardi B and Thee Stallion’s Grammy Performance Sunday?

Well, you just don’t know a tender and loving “ode to female anatomy” when one is presented for your viewing pleasure as in CBS prime-time for children to see. Take in the splendor and imagery in the stage set.

Still think we were overreacting to the performance of their ‘blockbuster hit” song at the GRAMMYS Sunday? This Daily Mail  link is to an article that will show key portions of Cardi’s and “Thee Stallion’s” artistic rendition of “WAP”.            dlh

“The dueling rappers left little to the imagination in their ode to female anatomy, marking the first time they’ve performed the hit live.

“As for the song itself, it was the first time Cardi and Megan had performed the song live, as it was released in August at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, making it impossible to perform in concert previously.

“The song wowed critics and topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, but it was not even submitted for a nomination at the 2021 ceremony.
“Instead, Cardi and Megan are holding onto the track and hope to submit it at next year’s ceremony.

“Cardi B responded to the furore in a Twitter posting on Monday night.

‘Conservatives been making viral tweets comparing WAP to the banning of some of Dr Seuss books as if there’s any correlations between the two ….Well I can DEFINITELY tell some of ya ONLY read dr Seuss books cause ya mind lacks comprehension,’ the singer wrote.

‘When has a school made kids read the lyrics to wap? I get it wap might be a lil vulgar but stop comparing a sensual song to books that has RACIST content! How can ya not tell the difference?I see that common sense aint that common,’ she continued.”

*Then they would also rate an award for understatement of the decade. In case you were wondering “Rubbing Genitals”  had already been taken by a student group at Julliard.

So who makes these “Grammy” awards?

We guessed they were determined by sales. We were wrong. In some ways relieved but none the less disgusted in other ways.  The awards are determined something like the Academy Awards, by people in the industry by category, though nothing prevents one category of ‘experts’ from voting for a favorite in another category.  This Wikipedia entry we presume to be accurate

Grammy Award
Final voting

After nominees have been determined, final voting ballots are sent to NARAS voting members, who may then vote in the general fields and in no more than nine of the 30 fields. Members are encouraged, but not required, to vote only in their fields of expertise. Ballots are tabulated secretly by the major independent accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.[22] Following the tabulation of votes the winners are announced at the Grammy Awards. The recording with the most votes in a category wins and it is possible to have a tie (in which case the two or more nominees who tie are all considered winners). Winners are presented with the Grammy Award and those who do not win are given a medal for their nomination.

In both voting rounds, Academy members are required to vote based upon quality alone, and not to be influenced by sales, chart performance, personal friendships, regional preferences or company loyalty. The acceptance of gifts is prohibited. Members are urged to vote in a manner that preserves the integrity of the Academy and their member community. Although registered media companies may submit entries they may not vote in either round of voting.

The eligibility period for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards is September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020.

Rap “success” comprised of Rants, Raunch and porn rhythms

So only the supposed highest quality wins. Do read the lyrics ( dlh previous post) and discover the quality. There’s ya some great stuff making important emotional statements. Those that comprise this voting group, frankly the whole organization in allowing any credence to such rap and hip hop lyrics, are subversive punks doing absolutely no good.

By the way, what is more racist than building a stereotype of Black Americans as oversexed  and illiterate ??     R Mall

“Lil Vulgar” is nice, but “Lil Vulva” has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? The irony of attaching that name to what is obviously “Notorious B.I.G. Vulva” is a bonus.

These award shows: Grammys, Emmys, etc. have had abysmal ratings for years. Nobody watches, and a purveyor of soft-porn, Cardi B gets more press from us than saw the actual performance.

    …and she’s raking it in.
