Quad Cities Media Vying For Alpha Lapdog

There is no doubt that President Obama is looking to his umpteenth visit to the
“Quads” with great trepidation. His handlers have to be shaking in their Birkenstocks  as their man prepares to face the no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners Quad Cities media.

Obama campaign staffers realize that the President’s ability to withstand the
tough questions he will face from the rough and tumble journalists here may well
determine the outcome of the election in November.

For starters there are rumors that the president will be inundated by a literal
blizzard of critical, but kind, letters from readers of the Quad City Times,
probably the most formidable newspaper west of the Mississippi. Mr. Obama will
no doubt be forced by the skeptical and canny editorial board of that paper to
defend his controversial performance and policies in the face of their
penetrating questions.

And then Mr. Obama must dread the certainty of having to face perhaps his
greatest nemesis, the wildly popular and recognized toughest questioner of this
era in journalism, the TV reporter, Gary Metevier. It is widely recognized that,
in their only previous meeting several weeks ago, Mr. Metevier shredded the
president with a withering assault of tough questions. More than one viewer
characterized Mr. Metevier as a modern day Edward R. Murrow.

The nation will be watching.     DLH

If you missed Mr. Metevier’s “encounter” with President Obama, don’t despair. KWQC runs it in full or in part fairly regularly. Most recently this past Sunday.

Gary is so impressive in the interview. He undoubtedly bought a new black suit, his hair perfectly coifed. As he stands motionless during Mr. Obama’s long, filibustered answers to Gary’s nerfball questions, it is rumored that the newsman may have used a cardboard cutout as a stand-in out of sheer exhaustion at having to look the president in the eye while pretending to hang on his every syllable.
    Hardhitting stuff, indeed!

I love how the last couple days the Times is acting like this will be a HUGE economic boost for the village. I was just reading their latest online article about O’s visit (they have about one up every 10 minutes) and a little truth was slipped in from a business owner in the village :
“Tracy Pettett, owner of The Added Touch on Mound Street, said Monday she is excited for the visit by a sitting president but says it won’t be an economic boost to the area. She remembers a campaign stop in the area by candidate Bill Clinton in 1992.
“The Secret Service basically shut down the whole area,” she said. “Maybe if Michelle shops for Sasha and Malia.”

So have fun going to the village and parking 15 blocks away and having to go through SS.
