We see confirmed now that Congressman Bruce Braley’s Cash for Clunkers program actually hurt the environment and low income consumers. Oh well. It was entirely predictable indeed forewarned. But of course not in the opinion of the QC Times which extended him plaudets and a couple of endorsements referring to him as a “meticulous student of Congress and extraordinarily responsive to constituents.”
Let us not allow Veritas readers to fail to recall that this fiasco was once Bruce Braley’s signature “accomplishment.” Wouldn’t it be great if Mr. Ridolfi of the QC Times received a few dozen letters from readers reminding him how the QCT’s twice endorsed congressmen has so effectively served his constituency, indeed his country? Well well well the chickens have finally come to clunker. Of course I was with you guys and knew in a few years we would read these stories. I always had many questions/concerns about his.
What about all the cars that were perfectly servicable and had to bite the dust because of this thing? I always thought this was the worst part. What about the homeless, poor and downtrodden who could have used these? The entire program could have provided cheap transportation for many of these people. Isn’t this real hope&change?
Meanwhile….my 1992 Chevy S-10 is still running like a charm. There seems to be only a handful of these relics left in the QC.
