Et tu, Chick-Fil-A?

One more institution for whom I’ve had great admiration for its courage and
steadfast refusal to accede to the absurd demands of the politically correct
mobs, has quietly surrendered and acknowledged its sinful ways in opposing one
of modern America’s new “greatest institutions.”

Chick-Fil-A this week capitulated. The fast food chain which had inspired
amazingly huge support from what many believe is the real America for its
defense of its beliefs and refusal to bend to the threats of a small but vicious
minority aided and abetted by a corrupt media agreed to stop defending its right
to free speech.

The restaurant chain early this week agreed to stop donating to “anti-gay”
groups and to “back off political and social debates”. This abject surrender was
made out of the glare of publicity in meetings with a lesbian, gay, bisexual,
and transgender group in Illinois.

For those thousands of Americans, including this writer, who joined together in
support of Chick-Fil-A and it’s founder, flocking to its restaurants to
demonstrate that the bullying and intimidation by certain groups in this country
would not be tolerated, this is a sad occasion.

One did not have to have an opinion one way or another on the subject of gay
marriage to support this business. Many who lined up by the hundreds in Chick
stores around the nation to buy its product were actually making a statement in
the finest American tradition against those who would suppress and threaten free
speech. They did it in the most positive way. They did not picket the homes or
offices of gay rights leaders and supporters. They did not call for boycotts of
their businesses. There was no vandalism or personal attacks.

Instead, these Americans stood up to defend the rights of other Americans to
express their beliefs, publicly and rationally. They put their money and their
presence where their  sentiments lie…in a free America where an individual can
publicly express his or her opinions without fear.

This is not a good day in America.                                          DLH

One Response to Et tu, Chick-Fil-A?

Chick-Fil-A is so lame. I can’t believe they caved to these activist losers after they had been setting all time sales records since the protest! I really didn’t see this coming. Talk about laying down. Another notch in the belt of the authoritarian left. And since when is giving to causes that are pro traditional marriage “anti-gay?”
