This is one of the most creative tricks yet for the Obama-loving media to get
their man elected.
Here we have the editor of the DM Register advising its readers that he has had
a “conversation” with President Obama but, sadly, the president insisted that it
must be “off the record”.
The editor assures us, however, that it was a really, really in-depth
discussion, providing incredible insight into the major issues involved in this
election, into Mr. Obama’s agenda, if reelected, for dealing with these issues,
and precisely what he intends to accomplish in a second term.
The Register appears to be critical of the president’s campaign for insisting
that the “interview” be “off the record” because, the paper breathlessly
reports, voters need to know some of these vital details in order to choose
wisely who will lead this nation over the next four years.
But, only the most naive reader would take the Register editor’s tearful lament
that the paper could not reveal the valuable insights of their conversation with
Obama as anything less than the most brazen con on behalf of the paper’s
“American Idol”!
It is amateurish the way the editor tries to conceal his motives . . . we are concerned enough that we offer this revised version from our pen so that none at the Des Moines Redstar loses the credibility they so richly deserve.
Dear Reader,
I bring you sad news. Our president, the very dear Barack Obama,
called me today. His purpose was to lay out, in great detail, his agenda for a
second term…how his administration will deal with the many, serious challenges
the world faces over the next four years. He laid out a comprehensive and
extremely well thought out plan, which those of us here at the Register are
convinced will solve America’ problems, foreign and domestic. The president’s
plans will restore full prosperity to all of our citizens, it assures that peace
throughout the world is achieved, and no individual, anywhere in the world will
ever again suffer from the effects of poverty.
Unfortunately readers, we can’t share any of Mr. Obama’s plans with you because
his comments were off the record. Also, we want to assure you that, in no way,
will this editorial board be swayed either way by his refusal to go on the
record or to meet with us during the campaign, or by the magnificence of his
plans for America which he disclosed to us.
Our endorsement of a candidate for President will be based solely on our
assessment of which of these men will be the best for our country. Rest assured,
the DesMoines Register is looking out for you. DLH
