Matthew Boyle writing at Breibart reports on the Corker – Hoeven Amendment to the Gang of 8 immigration bill. This is an astounding revelation and just more evidence that something happens to people when they go to Washington.
The new version of the bill was introduced via a so-called “border surge” amendment from Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND), with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid repackaging the whole bill into the amendment.
On page 35, line 24 of the new bill, a provision was inserted that says Napolitano–who already believes the border is secure–can decide against building a fence if she chooses not to erect one:
Not only can Napolatano not be trusted to see border security through, the idea of congress shirking its own definitive responsibility is corrupt. How can responsible Republicans vote for this as an improvement to the Gang of 8 bill?! By the way the Corker- Hoevan Amendment is said to be over 1100 pages. It cannot possibly be absorbed in a few days. The vote is scheduled in the Senate tomorrow. Shades of health care reform.
Clarice Feldman writing at American Thinker has a great analysis of the implications of Obama’s gaffe prone ignorant statements and speeches delivered (so far) on his $100 million dollar “in search of adoration tour”. As Clarice points out, the gild may be off the lily for Obama in the USA.
Things are heating up in D.C. with scandals being exposed so rapidly it’s hard to keep track of them. And as Obama’s luck would have it, they are coming in tandem with his mismanagement of the economy and the deathly impact his signature achievement “ObamaCare” is having on any recovery.
Naturally, the way for someone like Obama who evades all responsibility to handle this is to travel abroad in grand style, hoping once again to attain that level of celebrity that has carried him this far above his abilities to govern.
Clarice concentrates on the hypocrisy on display from Obama as regards blaming Christian religious schools for violent strife in the world. Also part of the article are references to George Will’s highly recommended column Hitting the Wall in Berlin, available here. Given the reported crowd sizes on this trip maybe the Hampton’s will provide the only hope for assuaging Obama’s ego. DLH and R Mall
