SCRCC Web Site Flacking For Veritas & Using QC Times Stuff

Two days ago we decried the Scott County Republican Central Committee (SCRCC) leaderships’ decision to highlight a trivial minded politician, for who knows what reason, over the need and availability of substantive advocates for Republican principles. Perhaps it is their effort at equal opportunity / affirmative action for dunderheads like former Senator Scott Brown.

But now we see that none other than the SCRCC leadership is helping us make the case about how slow on the uptake former Senator Scott Brown is.  Go figure.

On the SCRCC web site is this article announcing Brown as the headliner for the SCRCC sponsored Ronald Reagan Dinner in November.  The article, which has been up for three days now, is a verbatim and  unattributed (regretfully we presume) news report by Ed Tibbitts of the Quad City Times. For comparison, Tibbitts report is available here.

OK,  we have some doubt that the SCRCC leadership is actually flacking for our views here at Veritaspac. It is more likely that they either never read Tibbitts report, or were a little slow on the uptake themselves as to the implications.  Instead they just copied and pasted it while failing to attribute it.  You see with all their studied advocacy in support of Republican principles,  an original post for that site is often just too much trouble.

Tibbitts provided straight reporting of the upcoming event and fleshed out what would otherwise be a mere community event story (however dutiful) with reference to Syria, a matter of timely concern about which the august former Senator has  been busy emphasizing his well studied position. Well, except that he has not revealed a position on Syria. This is not to say Scott Brown has not revealed himself on occasion.

Incredibly Brown had been busy all day excoriating Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey for  being “unreal” by voting “present” on a key committee vote authorizing military action in Syria as requested by President Obama. It was an otherwise quite Obamaesque approach to matters of controversy for Markey to take. But Obama wanted that vote and Markey didn’t give it to him because he said he was essentially undecided.

The irony of course is that Brown did not commit to Tibbitts how he would have voted on the matter. Nor has Brown announced a position at this writing based on our Google search of the term “scott brown on syria.”

That Brown, who is rumored to be pursuing office in Massachusetts, or New Hampshire, not to mention the Presidency, would berate Markey for not having a position on a high profile urgent matter while not admitting to a position himself, is unreal.

Beam up Scottie. Maybe an advisable default position would be to go along with the bipartisan opposition to Obama’s threatened military incursion.  Having a default position the same as your potential Massachusetts rival while excoriating him for it, is as unreal as it gets.   But that’s our SCRCC leadership for you as well.

Here is the text of the “unreal” interview with former U.S. Senator Scott Brown with  Ed Tibbitts of the QC Times, as it appeared there, or is it the Scott County Republican Web site, whichever.

Brown, a former state lawmaker before winning the Senate seat, drew some attention by criticizing new U.S. Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., for voting “present” on a resolution in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee authorizing military action in Syria. He was the only one to do so.

Markey said he needed more time to study the issue. But Brown, in a Facebook post, called the position “unreal.”

In the interview Thursday, he said he would have voted to move the resolution to the Senate floor but didn’t commit to how he would vote then.

“I’m not going to look at what’s in the future. I’m not on the floor. That’s what they get paid the big bucks for.” Brown also has been mentioned as a possible challenger to Markey next year.

Folkes, you just can’t make this stuff up.  R Mall.

Anyone who has seen Brown in his role of political commentator on Fox News knows he answers every question with a non answer.
His prepared remarks are cotton candy on a stick; they will give you a brain cramp but at least spare your teeth.
