From RedState: Finger Lickin’ Frauds and Fence Sittin’ Scoundrels

A practice of ours is to look for politically incisive articles and refer our readers to them.  Sometimes we have to sift through an article that seems pedantic at first blush. There is no blush to this article from Daniel Horowitz writing at RedState.  The title (above) grabbed us right away and we were not disappointed as to its caustic insight into the Republican Beltway political establishment’s approach toward doing the right thing about Obamacare . . . basically continuing to avoid doing the right thing by taking the blood  out of the Obamacare monster by defunding it.

While referring in the article primarily to the machinations of House and Senate Republican leadership, the general aura of establishment enablers is not lost on the reader.  Horowitz writes:

current leadership of the party – a mixture of rudderless and duplicitous characters . . .

Meanwhile, House leadership is attempting to make an end-run around the base by passing a CR defunding Obamacare with instructions to separate out the defund portion when it reaches the Senate. The new dog and pony strategy will allow the establishment Republicans to vote to defund Obamacare, thereby saving them from primary challenges, all the while ensuring that the bill magically breaks apart on its way to Obama’s office.

Horowitz goes on to keenly word our chief complaint about the demeanor of the Republican establishment up and down the line, particularly during the “governing” period between elections.

For every aggressive action from the left, we never see and equal and opposite reaction from Republicans.  We can’t fight truculence with fence sitting and equivocation – or worse – a team that actually works to complement the forces of the left.
